i was declined and now have to see my primary care physician 4 times in 90 days. My question is...did anyone else have this happen with aetna and did they get declined the second time. What did you do if you did. My bariatric nurse really didn't give me a lot of information on what to discuss with my doctor at these visits other than diet.

Not sure on answering you but I just wanted to give you a hug and to tell you to hang in there!  I have been around for a year and have seen people get declined and appeal and win.  HUGZ!!

Take the bull by the horns! Call your insurance company and ask them what needs to be documented at your doctor visits. Write it down and take the list with you to each visit. Take notes and that way you will have it recorded to prove you did what was required. Also, you may want to post to the Insurance Forum here on OH as someone else may have Aetna and could offer you more thoughts.

Even though you feel defeated right now by the denial, just remember everything happens for a reason and your surgery will happen when the time is right. Just try to stay positive!

Ditto what Diamond Girl (Amy) said.  This may be a supervised 3 month diet and REALLY GOOD documentation could help if you get declined a second time.  And ask them how much they expect you to lose to be approved too!!! Good luck -- it will happen when it is meant to be!!!!
