I'd just like to 2nd all of what Tracy said! WLS is HARD. There's no way for you to prepare yourself for how hard it will be until you go through it. You will battle with your head vs stomach for the rest of your life. Lots of people have back pain for months because of all the changes your body goes through. I'm so thankful to have been given the opportunity to have this surgery, and would do it again for sure, but it's tough. It's tougher for some than others. I don't want to scare you, just want you to see things objectively. I battle with food daily. Sometimes it wins, sometimes I win. It's a struggle. WLS does not fix your brain. My $.02, Farrah

It's hard..  as others have said.. it doesn't fix your head.  My only thing I would of done different is started counseling then not now.

Thank you everyone!  Wow..this IS what I NEEDED to hear!   What kind of complications did some of you have???  I went to the meeting tonight at Methodist and learned soooo much!  But I am curious about your complications.  All those percentages didn't mean to much to me.  Tracy L.   Thank you for taking the time to write so much!  I love your honesty!!!!!   Others 2nd what you said.....I really appreciate it all!  Does anyone know of a good councelor I can start seeing in the Burnsville, Lakeville area???

Great questions you are asking, i am 2 and 1/2 years post op, and yes it was worth it for me, have i had complications, no not one, i have not vomited either.  That said struggles with the head games, yes big time, for me, i went thru the Emily program  in Minneapolis, they are wonderful they specialize in people with eating disorders, no i was not anorexic or bulimec, but i was such an emtotional eater that they helped me so much to really dig to the bottem of why i self medicated with food.  And then followed with treatment for addictions.  Those 2 things really saved my life, yes surgery is a tool, i am with Tracie that you need to find a good therapist that can relate and help you thru your issues, sometimes you might not know what they truly are until after surgery.  It is truly a life changing process.  I am grateful everyday that i did have RNY!!!!!!!  I like Farrah also struggle with food choices everyday, and yes sometimes the food wins, but more and more the brain is making the right food choices.  Methodist PNC rocks, you have found a wonderful program, Dr> Jones was my surgeon. Life is a journey not a destination.   Peace, Kimmie D
