Tough Days!!!

Man these are some tough days around the holidays.  Bombarded with christmas cookies and candy all over the office and home.  It is a true fight for me to win this "battle".  Let's be honest, some days are better than others.  Oh will I be glad when the treat fest is over!  I'm trying to drink even more water so I will be too full to even think of the cookies over on the table (oh how I love me some cookies...)   I am stalling out at my current weight and I know it is because of the all the "cheater bites" I am taking.  Have to get myself in check before these "cheater bites" become something worse.  So for today...NO CHEATER BITES for me.  As with anything else, it's one day at a time. Is anyone else struggling with the holidays, too?  Any tips to share? Amy

Hang in there!  Be strong and you are not alone!  Just remember:  when you obsess over it you feel deprived and will then sneak into the old habit of over indulgence.  SOOO, my tip for you would be to allow yourself a "cheaters bite" maybe one a week or day.  Just so you aren't focused on it!  But yes, keep yourself accountable!  NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS!!! By the way.....I need to keep myself accountable, thanks for posting as it is a reminder for  me too!

Amy - I'll be honest, our office is so inendated (sp?) with treats, various chocolate covered items, & meat/cheese trays, etc. this time of year that it is really almost sickening. First the money companies spend on it, then I always think of the starving children of the world. We are so blessed beyond measure & it is often so taken for granted. And we are like vulchers going after it. I don't know, but I try to stay away as much as I can only because I wish we donated half of it away to a local shelter or something. Just continue to do your best each day, one foot in front of the other (or behind if you need to step away...). And, if your co-workers know you had WLS, remember you are an example setter even if you don't think you are. You just may be the hope for someone else who is battling obesity. Best wishes!

Amy....just do the best you can.....a little nibble here and there won't hurt you. The holidays will be over soon.

I am lucky I don't have those problems....my office is in my home.I live alone so I don't keep things like that around. Now when I go to my daughters homes over Chrismas that will be something else!!! I just keep remembering what Sandie says....nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!! Good luck...don't beat yourself up about it. Hugs, connie d

Just remember to only allow yourself a small bite of things that are TRULY SPECIAL - things you would never have at home, things that are once-a-year treats.  I don't think we do ourselves any favors by forbidding every little guilty pleasure - just make sure it's only a taste, so you don't beat yourself up with guilt!  And if you don't lose over the holidays?  You're STILL ahead of the curve, given how much most of us probably GAINED over the holidays in the past!!!   One of my managers made ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS of home-made chocolate caramels last weekend, bagged up about 2 dozen or so individually wrapped peices for each and every one of us that are in or support his department!  Was I going to snub such a special gift?  NOPE!  I had one!  Took plenty of time to fini**** took small bites, enjoyed the dickens out of it, re-tied the rafia bow, and I'll share the rest with my family on Christmas Eve!  And ya know what?  That makes that little bag of caramels more special than it ever would have been in previous years, when I probably would have snarfed the whole thing down without my family ever knowing it existed!   TAKE THAT, FORMER FAT SELF!!!
