3 years Surgery Anniversary!!!
I can barely believe that its been 3 years sinse this life changing event!! I had my surgery 3 years ago yesterday with Dr Charles Svendsen at Park Nicollet. Just as an update, I started out my journey here at OH weighing 320 lbs, 5'10 inches tall, and my BMI was I believe 43. Today, 3 years later, I weigh in at between 157 and 163 on any given day and my BMI falls right in the middle of "normal" . .GEEZ, I never thought Id say that, and NOW, Ive said it for 2 years straight!! . I have not gained back the dreded 10 percent , which Im so thankful for. This has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. and although its probably the hardest thing I have ever done, Im so thankful I went through with it. I continue to struggle with self image issues. Ive decided that Im a woman and its pretty normal to always have a gripe about how you look or feel when you look in the mirror. My self esteem can go up or down on any given day. One day I will think Im the hottest thing in the world, other days I feel like I should craw in a hole and that no one would want to ever look at me. Its odd. I struggle with eating, or not eating I guess. I somedays feel like I can eat way too much, and then I overeat and realize that this tool of mine still works because after 3 years when I eat a little too much, Im still the girl laying down cuz she feels like she is going to explode! haha. . .It STILL works. Its crazy! Overall , my life is wonderful. I love my job, I love my boyfriend (whom my lovely OH girls hooked me up with 2.5 years ago!!).
Most of all, I love Obesity Help. I know Ive said it before but I will say it again. I know I wouldnt be where I am today without thelove and support of so many people on this MN board. I admittingly do not post or chat as often as I would like, or should. But there's no way to forget all the support I got here. I met one of my closest friens, Tatum here. We're still so close. Its so fun to gain and develop new relationships, especially with people *****ally understand what your going through. I encourage any of you in the process of this surgery to take FULL advantage of the support and love you can get with people on the boards. I believe that the support you get, or dont get, can make or break your journey. I put some new pictures in my profile from the past few months. :) Enjoy. I look forward to meeting or talking with all of you, or at least some of you , in the near future. Love Much, Sara Kesler
