I am in the Park Nicollet / Methodist Hospital program and I started the process about 2 months ago. I have 5 more supervised diet visits and my surgeon consult and I am done :) They told me that I should be ready to go in June. My checklist is complete except for the last 5 visits and then they will submit it. Soooo...hopefully I will be having surgery in June/July and be on the losers bench soon after! Its really nice to have this 6 months of time to learn all you need to know and start applying post op habits pre op...even though I am anxious to get the show on the road! I know it will help me in the transition after surgery by having had extra time. Hugs, Sherri

Hi Rose, I am new to the board and just read your inquiry.  I too have BCBS MN, and the only other thing they asked of me is a letter written from me.  I did not look to see what your BMI is, but mine was 40.2 with no co morbidiites and it was sent in for approval on December 4th and actually today, I received approval!  Good luck to you. 

I work for BCBSM and obviously also have them for insurance.  I didn't have any problems and I actually didn't have to go through the supervised diet for as long as they said they required.  I saw my dietician for 4 months, had the psych eval, and saw a physical therapist.  It went through the first time no problems.

Hopefully you won't need to worry about this, but if they deny you make sure you send it through for an appeal because when you do that it will be looked at by someone who doesn't work for BCBS so they will be completely objective.
