Don't be mad at yourself....you learn from your mistakes. You now know that you could have made a better choice. Remember your surgeon will be able to tell if you cheat...your liver won't have shrunk enough.

You can do it....you only have 5 days to go.....WOOOHOOOO!!!! Hugs, connie d

If they ask, I will tell them I made one bad choice. I am all about stepping up and being honest.

Thanks for your support!

Good to be honest, but don't honest yourself right out of having surgery!  (I did hear a woman was sent home from Methodist a week before my WLS!)  Next time you have a craving, take the time to think of something "legal" you can drink to help satisfy it!  No, there isn't a liquid I'm aware of to substitute for a pretzel, but there are choices - chicken broth is good if you're craving salty!  SF popsicles are good for chewing!  So is gum!   And remind yourself, that you WILL be able to eat just about anything you want once you settle into life post-op!  Some things won't appeal to you any longer, some things you try may make you dump, and then you won't want them anymore!  It's a great big adjustment, that's for sure, but keep your eye on the prize!!!  A thinner, healthier you!!!   Just 5 more days, and you're THERE!!!

HI and I think it was a big step to confess that you ruined and broke  your liquid diet. Have you called your Dr. office to tell them?  I believe our behavior during the liquid phase says alot of how we will do after... in SOME cases. It might be good to look into why you are self sabotaging yourself.. You will have to fight these urges after surgery and how will it go then? Maybe its not your time...   Know that this is coming from concern. But I would call the Dr's and tell them...

Start Weight - 263
       Current Weight
135 and making it work for ME !

Thanks for the concern. I think I would have been fine if i wasn't so darn hungry. I will see how I do for the next 5 days.

The liquid diet is really hard. But, after surgery it's a bit easier. Mostly, because if you eat that darn sugar, you WILL get sick. So, do it once, and you won't do it again.  Now that you have owned up to it, try, try, try to stick to the liquid diet. The last thing you want is for them to cancel your surgery because you cheated.  Good luck! Lori

I am hoping that one pretzel doesn't kick a person out of the prospects of surgery. From the way it sounds, I might have done more damage than I thought. Today if feel as in control as I did the first day so I don't see it as a problem. Will just keep my chin up and one foot in front of the other and see where it takes me.

No, 1 pretzel will not make you not have surgery. Just try your very best not to do it again. Drink another Slim Fast/Ensure/Boost/CIB. You can have up to 5 a day. You're lucky - you can have SF popcicles. When I was in the PNC program pre-op we couldn't have ANYTHING that wasn't liquid - that you could suck through a straw (no pudding, no popcicles, no nothing). That sucked the big one. You won't be as hungry after surgery. Don't worry. But you WILL be head-hungry. You will still probably want a snickers. It's a very tough time teaching yourself post-op. You can't know how you'll handle it until you're there. Congrats for admitting you cheated. Now don't do it again. Good Luck! Farrah

Funny you mentioned the popcsicles. I had just gotten off the phone with PNC and even though it isn't in "the book" I can have them I didn't know that. I knew some people mentioned that they had that, but I was sticking with my own doctors list. I thought they were just for post op, not pre-op. So that is exciting news! Thanks for your input!
