Liquid Diet -long (sorry)
I am on day 5 of the liquid diet. I have struggled through many close calls. One time I even had a snickers in my hand and put it back. It will not get easier after surgery because I can't have a snickers then either. But I know I have to deal with those choices everyday for the rest of my life. The surgery is just a tool-I am hoping my cravings will change over time. I did have one mess up and I was starving while shopping yesterday- not head hunger, but really hungry. So I ate a pretzel. Not just any pretzel mind you, one of the big ones. I know it was a wrong choice being as i am on the liquid diet and I know everyone else has been a perfect student on their liquid diet. On the good side, today, that pretzel has still kept me completely satisfied and have no urges for any of the x-mas candy and cake that are at work. So, this is my confession for the world to see, and I am owning it.
"...as i am on the liquid diet and I know everyone else has been a perfect student on their liquid diet."
yeah, right!
Glad to see that you are realizing that the liquid diet is another way for you to prepare for the changes that will be coming after surgery.
You will be able to get through this - I know you will!
keep up the good work!

for what its worth when I was on the LD to help with the need to chew, I munched on ice chips and SF popcycles. I'm with the others don't beat yourself up, just get back on the horse... you CAN do this! Good luck!

The liquid diet is really hard pre-op especially since you still have your whole stomach yelling at you for food, but one slip up isn't the end of it. I am glad to hear that your aren't having any cravings today, being at work with all the goodies can be really hard. I am 8 days post-op and am finding that rather than battle with the body hunger I am now battling the head hunger so when one leaves the other quickly jumps into fill it's space. At least now I know if I indulge that I will get sick and endup hurting my new pouch so that is what keeps me going. Just remember you are half way there only 5 more days left!
