Update on my dad!

My dad had his thoracentesis today.  The procedure itself went great, however there were a couple unexpected findings.  Number 1:  His INR (clotting time in blood) is a little elevated for unknown reason.  Number 2: When the doctor drained the fluid around his lung, he was expecting clear fluid, instead he drained 250ml of puss (or as they call it pleural puss)!!!  NOT what they were expecting!!! I know gross, TMI.  They sent this off for multiple cultures and tests.  When they finished, the doctor got on the phone with my dad's oncologist and told him his findings.  They decided to let my dad go home and wait for the results to come back before they do further treatment, as my dad did not have a fever or other concerning symptoms today.  If they decided to do something, they would have put a chest tube in and admitted him to the hospital!  As the nurse said he was a 1/2 step from finding himself admitted.  HOWEVER, if he has a temp we have to call and he will be admitted.  MY DAD DOES NOT WANT THIS!!!! He has had 2-3 fevers the past 6-7 months, but thought it was something he picked up from me because I had been sick around these times.  It was most likely from this.  WHICH means he has had this sitting around his lung for at least 6-8 months or even since he had his major surgery a year ago!!  His past xrays/ct scans showed fluid around his lung this past year!! All I can say is that God was protecting him!!!  All my dad has been saying is "THANK YOU JESUS for watching over me and protecting me"  I think everyone was stunned by this especially because when other patients have had this, they were very very ill!!!  Now his health hasn't been very well, but this explains why!!! My dad says he felt immediate relief after and is feeling better.  Tomorrow he can celebrate his birthday and Thank God for healing him and watching over him!  We are all thankful!!! Jesus and Dr. Larson rock!!!  Thank you all for your prayers and continued prayers!! Love you all!

It good to hear that they were able to remove the nasty stuff from around his lungs and that he is now feeling better.  I hope your dad has a great birthday and has many more.
