Too sweet

I was able to tolerate about a cup of diluted juice this morning and that was about it.  It became too sweet and just didn't sit well in my new pouch so I switched to Crystal Light. I also had 2 popsicles and about 1/2 a cup of chicken broth.  I am being good and had my 8 cups of fluid in by 7:00 tonight.  I am wondering if I will be able to try drinking the juice again or if I should just leave it be?  I have been drinking broth as my meals and have popsicles to change things up a bit.  My mom also bought some SF jello, but everytime I tried it at the hospital it just seemed to sweet to eat more than a couple little bites.  I have learned that my pouch can only take so many little sips in a row before I have to stop and let it settle/flow through. Oh, and I also walked 2/3 of a mile in 30 minutes this afternoon.  It felt good, but by the end I was getting a *****illy....I think I will find a way to walk inside tomorrow since it is going to be even colder.

Yup! Crystal Light and Propel all became way too sweet immediately after surgery! I think this happens for most everyone. You'll find your tastes will change, and sometimes week to week. :) Welcome to post-WLS! Congrats on doing so well!!!!

I would stick to the crystal light.....the juice obviously isn't ageeing with you. Too much sugar I would guess. Give you stomach time to heal.  You are doing great!! Hugs, connie d

I can't do juice at all -- way too much sugar!!!  I've been doing Crystal Light diluted 2 parts water to 1 part CL.  I'm now doing 3 to 1 because that is becoming too sweet -- but it beats just plain water for now!!!

Keep sipping and walking -- you are doing great!!!!

Yep! Juice is tough on me as well. I dump like crazy. Stick with the Crystal light. Ahhh! The good old first days after surgery. Fun, fun, fun. Keep up the good work with getting your fluids in.  Lori

Congrats on the walking, Nicole!   Keep it up! I find even yet (2+ years out) that I have to dilute my juices and Crystal Lights. (The lime is YUMMY!) Keep on, keep on, Sister!  You're doing awesome! ((HUG)) **SUE**

Hi Welcome to the loser's bench!! Juice can be tough. I would wait awhile before having it. When you do want to try it, I would suggest the orange juice "light".......Minute Maid and Tropicana both have them. They have 1/2 the sugar of regular juice. Even at 5+ years out, I can only drink this kind and then only a little bit. Keep up with the Crystal Light and Propel. Even in the beginning, I had to dilute those as well. Good luck to you. Peggy
