I'm Confused
Head hunger is more based on boredom or a grazing thing...not a true hunger in your pouch.
I dont love food anymore....food has become a thing to fuel my body now. I enjoy it but its not the relationship I used to have.
My stomach doesnt growl but just feels empty...and yes I have days I could careless about eating.
Hope that helped a little..

Everyone is different. I always got hungry - it just didn't take much to fill me up. It was cool to get full on 1/4 cup for so long! I still get hungry and love to eat....I just have my limitations. If you're not overeating or having food issues...don't worry. Just follow your program and enjoy your food and all will be well.

It's better to be imperfectly happy than perfectly unhappy.
Head Hunger is usually when you think you're hungry, but you're really not (i.e. when you just ate or you're craving something specific).
I'm on the other end of the spectrum from Linda Anne. I have never really felt "full" after surgery (unless I stuff myself and feel overfull). I feel "hungry" most of the time. There are lots and lots of people after surgery that never feel hungry and they can go all day without eating. I'm not one of those people.
Everyone is different, thankfully, on how their bodies react to the surgery. You just don't know until you're there.
Thanks everyone, your answers showed me that everyone IS different. I guess I get hungry, but I also get full fast, so I think this is just a learning curve for a newbie like me, but I appreciate all the wise advice and suggestions. Thanks Barb I do have to make an extra effort to get in all my fluids, I lose track of it at work, but today I bought in a teapot and will fill it and have it sit on my desk, it's pretty and it will remind me to drink. My tummy seems to like lukewarm or hot much better than cold and I have found a fantastic herbal tea at Trader Joes "Blackberry" it is very good if you like teas.
Since my RNY surgery Sept '04 I do not ever sense physical hunger or feel physically satisfied "full". I do however, know what "TOO FULL" feels like. My Dr. said that some people have this result following surgery and some do not. I will probably never feel physically hungry, but I do THINK I am hungry often. It is related to old habits, stress, boredom, other various emotions, etc. Don't get me wrong...it seems very REAL and it took awhile to separate what was really going on.
I also have what I call "tongue hunger" ;-) It can be even more powerful than head hunger for me. I get a urge for a certain flavor or food, and even when I KNOW it will make me feel sick I still eat it anyway. Been working ALOT on this one...tied into self-esteem and fighting old self-defeating habits.
So, enjoy food PLANFULLY. I know I still do!
