I've hit my first plataue at 6 weeks in. I've been stuck on this for a little over a week now. How long do these things last? Thanks!

Hey Lisa!  I don't think you're at a plateau.  The thing we all seem to learn as we go, is that our bodies are either losing pounds, or they're losing inches.  It doesn't seem to happen at the same time.  I can't explain it in any authoritative way, but I think our bodies can only handle one type of loss at a time - pounds or inches.  So if you're taking measurements, you'll probably see yourself shrinking even when you don't see the scale moving.  And I also know that it's one thing to know that, and quite another to rely on it when you don't see the scale moving.  Just put your scale away for a while, do what you're supposed to do, and trust your tool!  As long as you're eating right, it'll do it's job!!  Personally, I don't weigh myself at home at ALL - don't even own a scale!  I weigh at my appointments, and once in a while if I'm near my clinic first thing in the morning, I'll step on a scale.  I like the bigger drops I see, that I wouldn't see if I weighed myself more often! You're FINE!!!

You are doing great!  I agree, I don't think it's a plateau yet.  Even tho you may not lose pounds you may be losing inches!  Follow the rules, stay away from the scale for a bit and it'll all be good!  Keep up the good work!

That had to be nerve wracking. I don't care how prepared you are and how much you learn about what your going to go through, I'm beginning to realize that I'm still scared of screwing it up. and no amount of reading and researching prepares you enough for living it. I'm following the rules and doing what I'm told to do though so I guess a little faith is in order huh?

You are doing GREAT Lisa!!  And a "true" is a whole MONTH of no weight lost and NO inches either. One week.. get rid of that scale!! You will drive yourself crazy. I'm 2.5 years out and I just now bought a scale. I only weighed myself at the docs office and at group for at least the first 6 months. That way if you aren't losing weight, but are losing inches (Which is typical for women) you won't know. If after 4 weeks you weigh yourself and see that 20lbs is gone, all that matters is that 20lbs is gone, not what day or week they left. Relax, if you stick to your program you CAN'T fail!

If you are using a digital scale, they sometimes get "stuck" on a certain spot.  This has happened to me when I knew I was losing inches but knew I had to be losing at least an ounce!!!  So my hubby stepped on my scale and it did something to reset it because when I got back on it -- I had lost 6 pounds!!!  So now when I weigh myself, I weigh, then I weigh again holding my laundry detergent and fabric softener, then I weigh again without anything.  If the first and the third match, it must be right.  But I also only weigh on Saturday morning and on the morning before a group meeting (1st and fourth Wednesday).  Even so, sometimes we'll lose inches at a weight we were at for a long period of time back when we were gaining.  Don't worry about any of it right now.  You have MANY MANY months ahead of you to still lose and if you work the tool there is NO WAY you can't lose weight!!! Worry about getting your shopping down for now!!!

Thanks y'all. My wonderful little sister has graciously offered to scalesit for me for now and will only allow me to weigh in once a month. Thanks again for your words of encouragment.

Hugs to you all!

P.S. Barb... the credit card is smokin and the hubs keeps trying to steal it from me! LOL

Happy Holiday's!
