FEBRUARY 9th!!! SNOW TUBING AT ELM CREEK!!!
Update: I'm going to take the plunge and say - let's do February 9th for the snowtubing! My b-day is mid-January, and Barb is right, it's COOOOLD!!!!!! So Feb 9th will be the date. We can meet up at @ 5pm, eat at the Chalet, and go tubing at about 6 or 6:30!!! Rentals are for 2 hours, but at that point we can probably tube until closing time at 9pm! I don't know how to keep this message on top, but I'll re-post closer to that date to make sure everybody knows - but mark your calendars now!!! (Sandie, honey, are you reading this???) Okay, my friends, time to ponder an outing to go SNOW TUBING at ELM CREEK!!! I'm sure they'll be opening this weekend, so we could go any time between now and mid-March!!! Tubing costs $12 per person for 2 hours of tubing. There are something like 20 lanes, so it's pretty do-able to go down 10 or 15 times - and the BEAUTY of the tubing hill is that it's equipped with "Magic Carpets" - people movers that take you back up the hill, therefor conserving your energy for the FUN!!! (seriously, if I had to haul my arse up that huge hill manually? 2, maybe 3 trips down, tops.) So here are some questions for you to all chime in on - When? Before or after Christmas? (If we did it before Christmas, we could incorporate a white elephant gift exchange sort of deal!) Friday evening, Saturday morning, afternoon or evening, or Sunday afternoon??? (night tubing IS fun!!! The hill is lit!) Should we do a meal with this outing? I was thinking maybe a potluck for after the tubing, or we could just eat at the little cafe there at the Chalet (- KILLER Cobb Salad!!!) What do you all think?
Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
YEAH !!! Another get together!!! September was Swapkins, October was Stillwater coffee, December is meet and greet Sue, March is our camp in, and now snow tubing!!! WOOO HOOO!!!
1-- I vote for after Christmas -- people are too busy shopping, working, and holiday partying. In fact, in mid-January we have our -40 weather in Minnesota (I was married to hubby #1 on January 14th and EVERY year for our anniversary dinner it was in the middle of a -40 below cold snap -- and has been for all but one of 31 years!!! We spent our wedding night having every ones cars {not my bones} jump started!!!!) So maybe even very late January (Sataurday, the 26th, or early February (February 2nd or 9th) so it isn't sooo cold we don't enjoy ourselves? These periods are typically in the 30's or 40's -- real enjoyable for a long day out.
2 & 3 -- Definitely a Saturday -- afternoon into evening so we can tube and then warm up in the Chalet with Salads!!! Those are my votes and opinions. Thanks again to our beautiful Darla for putting this together.
