Hi ALL,

I think we were all taken back by the news at group about BARB! We all have her in our prayers and sending positive energy for her to heal... and let up not forget those.... kicks and giggles!!! HUMOR HEALS!

I would personally like to thank everyone for sharing so much important information with all of us pre-ops.

As for my sharing :
1. I can only speak from my own journey.. I am NOT a Professional.

2. The therapy I spoke of is called Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT for short) techniques and all
mental health DR or therapist will have heard of this and will know where there is a program.

3. PNC has a program, a place called Relate in Mtka, and Chrysalis in Mpls.

4. As always with anything I share ..Please take what you want and throw the rest away!

5. If I hurt anyones feelings I am truely sorry. It is with great respect and graditude that I thank all of you for sharing your journey of WLS and its challenges.

Prayers, hugs, kicks and giggles to BARB!

MJ

Like I told you last night, I thought you had wonderful things to share and I need to hear what you have to say more often.   Here is the Websters definition of support group... : a group of people with common experiences and concerns who provide emotional and moral support for one another  That is exactly what we do and why we are there, to get support and learn from eachother.  You are such a great and much neeeded part of our group.   Love ya bunches!!!

Surgeon's goal met, now on to the personal goal...

Relate Counseling Center is a wonderful place! I was there many, many years. :) http://www.relatemn.org  They no longer take HealthPartners insurance, the last I heard though.

MJ,

Never ever feel bad about sharing your feelings to the group. I for one learned something from your journey, I see I'm not alone with some of the feelings I have struggled with over the years. Your information will help me to reach my WLS goals!!   Thank You!!

Mary Jo, Thank YOU for sharing!  I really enjoyed hearing about the dialectical thingy stuff.  I'm feeling that I'm at an extreme point in my mental health issues and this might be something I need to look into.  I definitely want to hear more about it. You definitely need to share more - the great wisdom and support that you have provided me over the last couple of weeks has been incredibly awesome and helpful and what you shared last night was more of the same.  You have an incredible amount of wisdom and just hearing that there is someone else that has a brain as screwed up as mine (no offense intended) is 100% reassuring that I'm not on an island of my own in this crazy mixed up world. I meant to tell you this last night, but didn't have the chance.  When I have the "bad" thoughts in my head like you shared last night I say out loud, "Satan in the back seat!"  I know that it's him trying to control my thoughts and make my think evil of myself and I have to physically proclaim that he is NOT the one driving this car.  I've been really bad at doing this lately and consequently I'm doing poorly in my depression, so it's good that I'm reminded of this too. Take care honey!  I hope to see you Saturday at Eagan coffee.

Tracy,

LOL ..no offense taken..LOL. Yes, I will be at Eagan coffee hopefully not by the Lakeville route like last time!

We will share . Take care of you. Good luck and much prayers for school. You are amazing to go for your dream and the work that is involved.

Old habits die hard and HE strengthens me/us. Yes , send those thoughts a backing.

You definately didn't offend me, in fact it was great to hear what you and others had to say.  It is important to talk about some of the serious issues that a lot of us are going through. I just want to say THANKS! to everyone at the support group meeting last night.  I think I have been feeling more alone than I even knew.  Just being around people who are going through some of the same things helps.
