OT: Job Hunting

Hey gang, I'm in the market for a new job.  My current employer has developed a work environment of "anxiety and terror" (his words, not mine) and he's told me that once he realized I'm not afraid of him, he didn't think we can work together.  He's put me on probation, but told me he really has no hope of my ever fitting in and is planning to get rid of me around the 15th.  Then he told me he wanted me to just quit. I'm looking for a senior administrative assistant, executive assistant or office manager-type position in Minneapolis or the surround. If you hear of anything, please keep me in mind.  Thanks Jen

I'm sorry you have to deal with something like this...Your boss sounds like a real A**hole.  Whatever you do, do not do him any favors by quitting; at least until you have another job.  He wants you to quit so he won't have to pay unemployment.  Good luck with your job search.

I agree with the previous poster, don't quit, but good luck in your job search.  What a jerk.  I'd probably laugh at him and get fired myself.

I temped with Tempforce for almost 5 years-they have some postings on their website for admin type positions in the metro-try giving them a call, they have an Edina office.  they do temp, temp-hire, and straight on hire, so they might have something that is right, or will at least pay the bills till you find the right job. Consider filing a harassment suit against mr anxiety and terror-what a way to manage!!!

Jen, Your boss sounds like a jerk!  I would like to say " Whatever you do dont quit, document everything he says to you about quitting and hang in there until he fires you."  I had a boss like that, total micromanagement, unfortunately I quit instead of making him fire me!!! I had been at the job for 29 years and was making boukou bucks...but the constant verbal abuse took its toll and I gave notice and quit due to "hostile work environment." Unfortunately Unemployement Comp judge was a friend of his (had previously worked together..talk about a conflict of interest), I couldnt afford an atty, and I lost.

Long story.... short version.... found a new job, pays crap, but love it!!!!!! Morale of the story, do what you feel is best for you....life is too short to be miserable. So good luck in whatever you do.

I do the same thing, I use Career Builder.com each time I am looking and actually leave my resume posted at all times, just in case.  There are several permanent placement services available that I have used if you are interested in any of those. Tammy

Make him fire you -- unemployment is there for a reason.  If he wants to get rid of you, he can pay for it for years!!!!

Monster.com is a good one too!!!  Good luck.....I'll keep my fingers crossed for your job hunting.
