Has anyone noticed any visual changes with the RNY?

Yup I sure sure did!

I cant explain it and got alot of odd looks when I would say it to people but its true.

My eyes were whacky..hard to get focused etc.   Now that Im farther out, other than needing reading glasses Im fine.  I thought if when you get pregnant and put on weight your eyes change...why wouldnt rapid weightloss make things wonky for awhile?

So ...I have no WHY for you but it did happen to me too.

No worries..

Hugs

Interesting that you brought this up.

I definitely had changes. Actually, I had Lasik done in 2001 and ended up needed glasses again last year because my astigmatism came back. I needed another tweak in my lenses this year too. I'm not sure how or why it's connected to RNY.

I have become much more dependent on my reading glasses over the last six months.  Don't know if it's RNY-related (if so, I'm sure it has to do with nutrition) or age-related (as my whippersnapper of an eye doc said last year "you are over 40...") Take care.

I didn't need glasses until I got pregnant with my 4th child, then needed the prescription strenghtened last year when the diagnosed the diabetes... i sure hope it doesn't get worse. *pout* I HATE my glasses.

Well, as I posted last week or so, I have just gone back to my eye doctor and was diagnosed with Karacontones, which was pre-surgery, I had it last year too. But my prescription has changed and eyesight is worse. We tried contacts, not working for me so I back with trying to get used to the glasses again.......My Dr told me that the eyes can changed with rapid weight loss and this is normal.....He did n't seem so concerned..... I would just like to see normally!!!

Most definately. I went to the eye doctor and he said it was normal with any surgery. He said they should go back to what they were before surgery, but it could take up to a year. That didn't happen for me yet, it's already been a year.

Hi Laura....yes, my eyes have changed...in fact I have an eye appointment on Thursday. I am also diabetic so it could have to do with that too. Good luck.... see an eye doctor when you can. Hugs, connie d

Thanks all, I thought something weird was happening, but didn't know for sure. Sorry Carol, I missed your post last week. I wouldn't be surprised if the rapid wt. loss didn't do something to the eyes.

Thanks
