Old but new
Hello Everyone, I'm starting the process to have RNY WLS. I'm attending the seminar on the 30th and hoping I'm approved. I went to one hospital consult and all and was told I wouldn't be approved by them and referred to another hospital. I hope this one goes further than the consult. I'm going to the surgeon a friend used and has had good results. Basically I need lots of luck. I've held off on surgury for years and recently a few things healthwise started to go. I thought for years I could lose weight on my own, and well I have lost from 273 to my current of 238 but I couldn't seem to get below 203 (that was my lowest). Meds caused me to gain 40 lbs in 6 months. I'm off those now. If you check my profile you'll see I was here years ago. I've researched the various versions, and have finally decided to have it. Now I hope the surgurical world and insurance cooperates. Didn't take that part into conseration (at least not enough) before. Anyway I just thought I'd say hi. SassyK

Welcome to the best board in the U.S.!!! Sorry about the first hospital!!! But, like Sandie said, there are many on the boards who have had their share of battles to get the surgery. Some have a 6 month monitored diet to do first, some have to wait until they can sign up for different insurance the next year because their insurance doesn't cover it, some don't make it to the surgery and diet on their own. Each of us has our own journey.
Keep us posted on your progress --
