Why I had surgery, not about cosmetics

I want to say something real quick. I realized that it sounded like the whole reason I did this surgery was to "look good". While that is a wonderful side affect of this surgery, I did it for my health. I no longer am on blood pressure meds, my last bp was 115/76. I no longer wake up chokeing because of the GERD. I no longer have sleep apnea, which I never even knew I had until I was in the hospital after surgery, my joints no longer hurt, and I am no longer suffering from depression. Those things going away were my first goals, and they have been met. This goal of pants size was when I was asked how much I wanted to or expected to loose. Just wanted to make sure it didn't sound like I did this all for cosmetic purposes. Besides my fat smooth tummy looked a lot better than my saggy, wrinkly skin sagging tummy. Thank god clothes cover it up and give the appearance of "slimness".

I doubt anyone EVER thought that !!!  NONE of us can say that getting into a size we never thought was going to ever be possible didn't excite us to the max.  We ALL look in the mirror and WOOO HOOOO our new bodies!!!  Hearing about accomplishments helps people just beginning this journey who don't believe it is possible.   So keep on bragging girlfriend!!  You have worked very hard, gone through a ton of crap and everyone deserves to brag about their accomplishments --- WE LOVE WOW MOMENTS!!!!

Thanks Barb. I just wanted to make sure that someone coming to the boards without much knowledge wouldn't think that people did this for cosmetic purposes, and take this surgery the wrong way. But believe me, I love having a place that bragging is accepted by people who understand what we are going through!!

Congrats on all your healthy accomplishments. This is truly why we all do this. But you don't have to discount your drop in pant sizes. That's important to! Keep up the good work! Lori
