FREQUENT urinating??

Did everyone else experience this on the liquid diet? I wake up 3-4, sometimes more, times a night to go. I have never in my life woken up more than once unless I had a lot to drink right before bed. I'm chalking it up to all the liquids I get in a day, meals and water. So I am guessing it's pretty normal, but I had never seen anyone talk about it... On a side note....I'm in ONEDERLAND already!!!!! Last night I had weighed less than the morning so I had a feeling when I woke up I would be in onederland, and sure enough I am!! Thanks everyone for all of the support, sorry for all the questions. You'd think I didn't learn anything for the past year I have been on this board. HE HE HE Love you all!!

Hi Alayna....yes, I went to the bathroom quite a lot at first too. It is the fluids....we aren't eating anything solid at this stage and the liquids sail on through pretty quickly. This too will get better. CONGRATULATIONS ON ONEDERLAND!!!! Spaz  You are doing great girl!! Hugs  connie d

Totally normal Alayna!  Part of it is the fluids they pump into you in the hospital, part of it is being on a liquid diet.

Can't believe you've already hit Onderland!  CONGRATULATIONS!  I'm 5 months out and still haven't gotten there.  *pout*  You are doing a GREAT job!   Don't be sorry for any question posted...that is what we are here for!

Welcome to onederland GF!!!!  Doesn't it feel great?!!  On the pee thing, totally normal.  I'm down to getting up once a night but man I go forever.  I didn't know my bladder was that big!!!!  It has A LOT to do with the fluids from the hospital.

A word of advise -- DO NOT weigh yourself more than once a week.  Pick a day of the week and time you are going to do it and only do it then.  And take your measurements at the same time you weigh yourself.  You may not have lost weight, but will see you have lost inches.  Scale watching can be addictive and if you find yourself disappointed because you didn't lose, you don't want it to cause emotional triggers and eating habits.  Just follow the program and you will lose.  I know it is wonderful to see the scale go down but you need to get used to not relating to the numbers -- relate your loss to how you feel health wise.....Just me $0.02 worth as a sister a bit ahead of you.

Keep up the great job..... XXOO

I actually find weighing myself regularly helps keep me on track. When I quit weighing it's because the scale is going up and I am ignoring it. At least that's how it's been in the past when I have gained back anything I have lost. It starts with gaining, and then I quit weighing and I keep gaining. If I weigh myself frequently, always in the morning when I first wake up after I go to the bathroom, I find it helps me. I don't obsess too much over the #'s, but it helps reinforce I am on the right track, the downward track. I am perfectly accepting that the scale will fluctuate, it will stop for a little bit and it will go up just a tad sometimes. You've gotta do what works for you, and this is what works for me. Now if I quit weighing, there's a problem!! LOL

I totally agree with what works for you.  Was just offering advise heard on the boards before from the further outs.  If weighing yourself to keep you on track is what is successful for you, go GF!!!  You're doing great -- keep up the good work.

Hate to tell ya this, but I am over 5 months out, and I still pee all the time, afraid I can't chalk it up to the fluids from the hospital anymore, even though I did get 22 liters the first night, hmmm maybe I can still blame that. All joking aside, consider how much water you drink now as opposed to before surgery, and remember we don't absorb as much as nonbypass folks, so stands to reason we will pee more often. I only get up once or twice at night now, and it isn't too bothersome. Holy crap on being in onderland already! You are doing awsome. And as far as needing the scale, maybe weight a couple times, but then measure more often. I haven't lost any weight again for a couple weeks, but yesterday I found I had dropped another pants size. Or do both if you have to, whatever works for you is what you should do. Good job.
