Liquid diet....

I am finding it hard to get in my goal of 40-50 grams of protein in a day. I've only gotten half that in with what I have a day. Maybe it will be a little better now that I have found other protein drinks today? I am doing really good on my water though, that is going down easy. I'm supposed to be having soup 2x a day and it just does not sound good at all!! This is so weird to not be hungry!! I have to remind myself to eat. How did you all survive the liquids post-op? What was on your menu? Did you find it hard to get all of your protein in too? I'm sorry, I know there have been posts about this, and I know I have read them, but it's like it's one of those things that doesn't really stick til you're in the mix of it and actually experiencing it. I'll go searching too, but I am tired and am trying to get my last 4oz of protein drink in. Thanks everyone!!

Alayna- I bought some of those 3oz bullet protein shots...25g. of protein. That way you don't have to "drown" in liquids. I got 12 of them for $22. You can buy profect too, they are a bit more $$ though. Hope this helps! Sherry-

Are they any good? I have heard so many bad things about them that they're not that good. I should go to GNC again tomorrow and see what I can find. I can drive tomorrow!!!!! FREEDOM!!! I can't wait!!!!!

There are also bullets out there for 42g of protein. They taste horrible, but now that I am farther out and can take an ounce at a time as a "shot", they are working well. Got mine at bariatriceating.com. Don't stress too much about it as of now, you are only a little ways out. It took me a long time to be able to actually get mine in, and once you can eat, it gets much easier.

Take a deep breath, you're doing fabulous!   They don't expect you to get all your protein in immediately after surgery - just do your best. Which you are! Congrats!

Alayna, No, their not bad...I bought the blue raspberry and decided to try one pre-op....I poured it over ice and it was pretty good. Smells like crap though! LOL Just remember...they are only 3 small ounces! Like Nicole said too, you can get them in different protein grams....also several different flavors. Sherry-

Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement. I have finally found a 20oz liquid protein drink like Isopure, but not as syrupy. Cytosport Protein, it's 40g of protein. I can definitely get a bottle in in a day. So I will definitely be meeting my protein goal each day including my food/drink meals.

I don't think I EVER got my protein in during the liquid phase. I didn't get it in until the pureed phase. Good luck with this gf.  Lori
