Surgical consult/surgery date??
I have my surgical consult on the 26th of November and once I've had this appointment, I am to call the managed care nurse and advise her that I have seen the surgeon. And from my understanding at that time a letter is to be sent to my insurance for approval, which I have been told can take a couple of weeks to find out whether I have been approved or denied. Base on that information my question is... will they schedule a surgery date or do you have to wait until you find out have been approved or unfortunately denied?? Would appreciate any feedback on this matter. Erika : )
Hi, I did not get a date set up until the Dr. had fax in hand of my approval. Even though they had gotten a call from insurance with an approval number, they wanted a fax. They told me that they''ve had trouble with my insurance company in a case where the approval number was called in, surgery done, and when it came time to pay, the insurance claimed they never heard of such a number. In my case, when the Dr. got the fax, conveniently my last name was spelled wrong and the hospital name was spelled wrong. Coincidence? I can't imagine. It's been a long 1 1/2 years waiting for approval. Good luck to you and keep us posted!!
