pre-op journey ...so far
Hi ALL,
What would you tell someone thinking about WLS surgery?
Since I am still pre-op yet I can only talk about my journey.
Go to every support group you can , LISTEN and LEARN.
Go to all educational sessions on your co-mob.
Have all procedure and test the professional order even if you are scared, ashamed and in denial.
Ask any and all guestions ..there are no dumb ??'s
Trust your inner self ..if you wonder get a second op.
That said you don't go to professional and then NOT DO what is ask for.
If you have sleep apnea know your #'s it is a disease .. just like a diabetic they know how much insulin and their #'s so must someone with sleep apnea.. even THIN people have sleep apnea.
A few of you know I have had 3 weeks of LEARNING! LOL!
( lots of procedures and many physical needs to address)
Be the healthiest you can be before surgery for yourself and your surgeon.
I am truely grateful to all the support and caring I have received and Thank You ALL.
As Always take what you need and throw the rest away.
With Gratitude and Respect for each of you and your journey and the knowledge you give along with a lot of caring and gentle kicks in the attitude.

HI MJ- yup-the best thing you can do is be proactive about your health-that goes for anyone, WLS or not! You are gonna rock this surgery by the time you finally get through all the hoops, because you know that it will change your life in so many ways-I agree, we need to be as healthy as we can to get this surgery, and then get even healthier after!!! Never stop learning-even at over 2 years, I find that I need to go to group and learn and talk to people. Hugs to you- lynn

WOOO HOOOO!!!! Accepting the process and learning as much as you can so you can make it work is a true battle. You have your battle scars (with 5 little ones still to come -- the lap entrances), and many of them made you feel really uncomfortable and even embarrassed, but you HAVE learned A LOT!!!! And you will continue to learn and grow with knowledge for a long time!!!
I applaud you for asking yourself the same question that was asked of us at group the other night and answering it with such truthfullness. Your journey and your experiences will help the newbies in a few months. So when someone goes through what you have gone through, or has questions on what the process is, you can be there for them.
XXOO -- Wish you could make it to Eagan coffee tomorrow so we could all give you a big hug!!!
MJ, I just think you are as adorable as they come! Can I adopt you??? Your attitude is just awesome... self deprecating, but honest, and you are moving forward even when it makes you uncomfortable! YOU, my friend, ROCK!!! I will be SO HAPPY when you finally post "I'M APPROVED!!!"
