Barb J Update
Hello Everyone!! Well the good news is that Barb is finally starting to feel herself! She gets tired rather easily. But she is feeling that she is up for phone calls and vistors. Please remember that she is still recoving from what turned out to be a quite complicated surgery, so if she needs to cut a call or visit short its not personal! I will tell you a bit of the story in a minute, but it is VERY IMPORTANT to Barb for everyone to know that she is getting through this because of everyone at group and those on the boards! The prays and good thoughts were really appreciated! She wants you all to know that you are her inspiration!!
Now a bit about the surgery. Dr. I had alot of scar tissue to get through and things were much more complicated than he anticiapted. Not only was there the revision, there was an issue with some mesh from a hernia repair that had been recalled and a few other things going on. As most of you know, Barb had a VGB several years ago and while Dr I knew there were issues with the band, he was surprised when he actually got in there. The VGB band had actually broken into several pieces and Dr I told Barb she was very very lucky that her bowel had not been perferated. However had she not choosen to do the surgery it would have been only short period of time before it would have happened and I believe her told her it probably could have killed her. Our girl is very very lucky!! After sugery she was in alot of pain and it was not under control, come to find out there was a clamp on the pain med line going to the IV so she was getting NO PAIN MEDS at all! No wonder she felt like ****! With all the issues Barbs recovery is going to be different than the typical rny patient, however you knows shes always up for a good challenge! Her spirits were good today, however her pain was still pretty high but the girl we all love was coming through! I am going to post her Hospial info, again feel free to call or stop by but please remember that Barb is going to need her rest. Oh and when she is trying to nap she will have the phone unplugged so you can always try at a later time if you get no answer. Dr I is not going to release her until the weeping from her open scar has stopped. While it has vastly improved it is still not where it needs to be. Her Room number is Floor 7b, room 238 bed 1 direct dial is 612-273-0571 Thanks everyone, I will ask that good thoughts and prays keep coming until Barb is home and all is well!!! Have a great night!! xoxoxo Ali
What open scar!! Scary , yes! And NO Pain Meds. She is a one of a kind and soo grateful that she has been repaired to a healthier life. I will not try to call as I truly respect her healing time at the hospital. As we all wish her back better than ever.... with time!
Thank you again for the great update!
