Hi ...been lurking the boards for a couple months. Having surgery set 12 at st johns Oakland . I have 8 year old twins and a soon to be 7 year old. Looking forward to the losers bench. I decided to do the RNY vs the sleeve.. Some times I sway the other way when I read all the complicated stories...but I know we are all different. Look forward to see more chats on the Michigan board.

I had the band and will be getting it out 9/4. I will be fighting the insurance
co to get the sleeve. I would have gotten the sleeve in the first if they had been doing it and insurance paid for it. My only choice was the RNY and Band at the time. I really thought I could make the band work and did the first year before I started having medical issues.

Well, it's happened ! I don't have an "actual" date but the surgeons office has called and said it will be the first week in October. Good thing as by then I will have all of my canning done--gardens will have been put to rest ( although the way the weather has been our tomatoes might just be ready by then). Now I 'm excited and scared (perfectly natural I know)--got to get my ducks in a row and get serious about this whole thing--you know practicing the habits we need to develop. I will start tomorrow using the smaller plate and small spoon and fork, not drinking with meals, ect. I 'm on my way !!!!!

Hi I had Health Plus and they do everything backwards from the others.
First I had to have the psych eval
Than have the PCP fill out a data collection form to send to them.
I than got to see the sugeon. After Hurley got everything from my pcp and Health Plus got all their info I had to wait. Health Plus took the whole time alotted before approving the surgery.

You aren't the oldest! I ran into someone at support at Hurley that was trying to get in under 70. One of the surgeons there doesn't do over 65. Good luck. Hope you come back and update us.

Jessmom, I too had Health Plus and went thru Hurley. Health Plus makes you go backwards so you are very close if you had the psych eval, six month diet and everything sent to Health Plus. Have you had the records from the PCP sent to Hurley. If not get them and follow up, seems a lot of docs don't follow thru on sending them on.
They have changed some things since I went thru. I had to have a classe at Hurley covering nutrition and what would happen at the hospital. I got my date moved up so only had two weeks to get pre-op and diet and than I was done. Send my a pm if you want to talk.
