Hi Dianna,
My college kids used to live in Ypsilanti last year. I dont know Dr. Taylir. Is he on the OH vetted surgeon list? I wouldnt want to have this kind of major surgery with just anyone. You should look into my surgeon- Dr Kemmeter, in Grand Rapids. He's just a few hrs drive from you, and well worht it. I traveled to him from Kalamazoo, for his exceptional abilities with the Duodenal Switch. Very few surgeons are qualified to do this most highly successful weight loss surgery. He makes everyone relaxed, and at ease. I had no fears going into surgery. He's known as one of the best- a top Doc for any kind of weight loss procedure. He will let you choose which surgery you want. His team insures you are prepared for surgery, recovery, and beyond to have an easy time of getting back to a great healthy shape. Thanks to all. I'm having a sleeve. I've lost 32 pounds so far pre-op.I really lucked out on one thing.I have HAP insurance and was told I'd have to do a 6 month medically supervised diet. I wasn't expecting to have the surgery till next year and right before I was supposed start the 6 month diet, HAP called me and said they dropped that requirement , so it's October now.That was the good news.My right foot is shot, chronic pain, many issues.I went to the foot Dr. today and he said I have numerous issues that can only be corrected by surgery.I walk a lot at my job, so , this is a real problem. I don't want to take 2 medical leaves,back to back.So,If Dr.Genaw says ok,I'll have my foot surgery 2 weeks after the sleeve. Gonna be interesting!

On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery. It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to".

Dr Genaw was my surgen. He is a great guy. They answered all my questions. Glad you found the MI board. It is nice to have local support as well. Best Wishes.
