Topic: Priority Healthcare Medicare - Process? Borgess Hospital?

Anyone recently go through the approval process through Priority Health Medicare? My BMI is 65. My PCP is not apart of Borgess, but its the closest Center of excellence which my insurance requires that I goto.

Im going to a Borgess Bariatric Seminar in Kalamazoo, in a couple weeks, I sure hope the approval process isnt long, I have spent too many years on this ride and have tryed many different routes. Have had Sleep Apnea for over 10yrs and have not been below 300 since the 90's no matter what I have tryed.

Topic: Does anyone know the Cost of VSG Surgery in Port Huron, MI? (from a Canadian)
Good Day To All of my US Neighbors!   I am from Ontario Canada and getting a little tired of waiting (19 months so far) for surgery in Ontario Canada.  Even though our Health System pays....the wait is a bit much.  I have had all the tests....just waiting for a post op class...weeks after that you get to meet the surgeon and see if he/she approves you.   Since I love the USA and come frequently to Michigan, I was wondering if I paid out of pocket how much the cost would be for the VSG.  I would prefer the VSG as opposed to RNY.  They will only perform RNY 95% of the time in Ontario unless you have medical reasons to get the VSG.  I attempted to email the hospital in Michigan and they would not give me this info.  I find that strange....especially if I am willing to pay.  I would rather have a new car....but a new body would be even better!     Any help would be appreciated from my south of the border friends!   thanks kindly!

What is going on? Did you inform the doctor or even office staff about being unhappy?

Topic: Ok I need some advice

I have had lap band surgery and have had many bumps here and there. Most being that in April of 2011 I had to go in and be drained surgeially being that they could not access my port. After that was done I had to relocate and have not been able to find a doctor whom is willing to take me on being that I have already had my band placed. Yesterday I ended up in the ER with horriable pain an vommiting. Upon examing me they informed me that I was holding food above the band. and my stomcah was distianed ( Sp). Was sent home on pain meds and told to follow up with weight loss doctor. ANyone every been through and thing like this... I am sitting here with pain again and not sure what to do. It is a 3 hr drive to my old docs office. I do not have funds to drive there now.

Topic: RE: Medicaid approval

I have straight Medicaid which I am told is different than the individual type that I think you are describing and they all have different criteria. At least that is what I am finding out. It is very complicated. I am not familiar with diabetes but apparently if they have trouble controlling it with conventional treatment then that could meet the requirement. I think they make it difficult just to weed out the vain people who may want to do if for just personal appearance and not because of health issues. I have appealed my denial and I'm hoping I have enough additional health issues to sway them.
