Hi KP,
I have not been on this website in 4+ years and I just celebrated my 10 year RYN surgery. I came in here to see all what was oing on and see if I "recognized" anyone! I remember how this KP person was always changing up his picture and when I saw the one that was there back in February I knew it had to be KP!. Had a good chuckle. Then what a sadness when I came across the information that Jon passed away. My husband and I came to the picnic you had at your house, oh back in 2005??!! and so many people from the MI forum were there and of course so was Jon. Other than the information you posted about twisted intestines, etc. are you able to share any further information? Maybe it is time for a reunion of that MI group picnic to celebrate Jon? Maybe most of you have stayed in touch and I am totally out of the loop, but I know you and Jon were good buddies and I do want to let you know I am sorry for your loss.

Sorry this is a bit late. I had my lap band removed and a VSG by Dr. Pleatman back in Dec. 2009. I've done great and have maintained my weight for 2 years. It's definitely a mind issue after surgery. I was pretty "*****y" for a while. It gets better with each day and a few months out you are eating like a normal person (just a bit less). Good Luck! Pleatman doesn't have the best bedside manner in the world, but he was really great with me. I had a few issues just due to my lapband and he was always a phone call away.
Hello sreed and thank you for your response. Yes, Dr. Pleatman did a wonderful job with my son. His surgery was June 6tH, and he was off pain meds and up and around the very next day. I'm very happy we had him as our surgeon, he is excellent, knowledgeable, and very experienced in this field.
My son has been feeling great and losing at a rate of a pound a day, so far he's down 51 lbs in one month. He's very careful of what he puts in his mouth, and makes sure he gets his water, protein, and vitamins in each day.
Again, thank you for your response. Glad we had Dr. Pleatman as our VSG surgeon!

I ended up having my sleeve done with Dr. Zeni at St. Mary. The hospital was fabulous, the nurses were amazing, and I have been very pleased with the care I have gotten from Dr. Zeni and his staff. My husband decided to have him do his hernia surgery in a few weeks even we were so pleased. :-)
Hello Everyone:
I am new here today! Looking forward to reading and educating myself on here!
I have a question that I hope someone can help me with, my insurance requires a referral in order to have the surgery done, and my family doctor is against the surgery and said she will not give me one. I am hoping that someone on here will be able to help me find a doctor in the Genesee County area! I'm ok with any surrounding city Flint, Fenton, Swartz Creek, anywhere really in Genesee County! My health insurance is Health Plus Partners! Or if anyone knows how I can research and find one myself, I've been working on this for 3 days, and am so glad I found this site!!!!!
Thanks All
P:)
My surgery was in March of 2011. I went from 257 down to 143, and then had a hysterectomy in Oct of last year and gained 20 pound back. Having a hard time getting it back off, but I will. If you have been on this website for any amount of time, you have it made. The surgery itself isn't any big deal, it's all about what you do. Do not overeat! The worst feeling in the world is when you take one bite too much and start to get "the feeling". You will not like the projectile vomiting experience. Take things slow, follow the advice of people on here and you should do great. Best of luck.
