It's okay. I found this site through google and joined it with the hopes of it helping me to find a way to get WLS or to find an insurance who would cover it. Maybe even a surgeon or hospital who would offer payment plans? I'm still on the hunt. Haven't found one as of yet.

Have a nice weekend!

I heard about Mexico and do know that it is quite popular because it is cheap, but I would have to look into it. I am a bit worried of all of the other possibilities and all of my family is here, so Mexico would probably be out of the question for me. I am definitely trying to get it done here in Michigan. Thanks so much Brandy! I appreciate responses from you.

Good luck sparkle. This is the first time my insurance covers wls. I know a lot of people go to Mexico and have had great results. Don't know if this is something you'd want to look into.

Im so glad to hear that it went good! Yes, my current insurance covers pretty much nothing, its called Golden Rule. I'm suprised that a lot of insurances don't cover it. I was reading an article online before and it said that insurances rather pay to fix each room of the house, when the roof itself is falling in. It was supposed to be an analogy of how a person who is overweight and instead of covering a bariatric surgery to fix all of the problems, they cover medications and treatment for things like sleep apnea, hypertension, and diabetes.

Yeah I'm not too sure about payments because it would cost a lot. For example, I have contacted University of Michigan Ann Arbor and they wanted $50,000 (it was 50 something thousand), and upfront too. I don't have that kind of cash. Do you have blue cross blue shield?

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I posted and wasn't sure if anyone would see me or reply. I am so thankful for your reply!!!!!

Hi, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I'm in the process of meeting requirements before surgery. My insurance covers it, so I don't know about making payments. I'm sure if you called up there they can help you out with that. Good luck.

HI.  My surgery went well.  I am so very pleased with my surgeon and the rest of the support staff as well as the hospital and staff.  I have never gotten such fabulous care before.  I do have BCBS of Michigan.  I am rather surprised that yours does not cover it.  Have you called them?  So many are finding that it is more cost effective to do the surgery to avoid the long term issues that come with morbid obesity.  I know there is a message board where people go to Mexico to have the surgery and pay out of pocket, but I have no idea how much it actually is.
