I have everything already done but to finish the 6 month requirement from Blue Cross. I have an appointment with my PCP in November and the final appointment is December 2nd. Then the Bariatric center can submit all my paperwork for an approval or denial. I was under the impression I just had to discuss with my doctor diet nutrition and exercise. And if I didn't loose anything during this period it would be ok...Well I saw my nutritionist from the bariatric center and when I told her I had gained ONE pound when I had went to my last visit at the PCP she about fainted. She said she's seen insurance companies deny people for gaining 1 pound. Is anyone going through this right now and have any advice? Since then I have kicked it into super gear and hope to lose a few pounds at the November visit but I'm sick about the fact I may have to start over...
You know what? I'm right there with you. I had a consult on 9/14 - and they were supposed to get back with me 2 weeks later and haven't heard. Phone calls have resulted in NOTHING. I'm wondering what is up too.
He told me he's pretty much booked until the end of the year. I need to know ASAP if he got my insurance to cover my next surgery because I may be changing insurances.

I have had my bariatric surgeries in two different hospitals with two different surgeons. My first surgery was with Dr. Schram in Spectrum Health Blodgett hospital. That experience was great. I really was thankful that Dr. Schram did such a nice job on my sleeve. I had a lot of stomach spasims in the hospital and they really helped me take care of that.... Dr. Schram does not do the Duodenal Switch... he recommended Dr. Kemmeter to me.
Unfortunately or fortunately I had to have my gallbladder removed, and I couldn't wait until my DS. So I ended up having that removed 7/19/13. So I had to wait 12 weeks from that day before I could have my DS. On top of that i needed to increase my vitamin D. So... everything happens for a reason. Got my D up, and I was able to get my date.
I had my surgery on 10/8/13... Tuesday of this week. Every nurse that I have been in contact with have been super nice and helpful. Even when they appeared to be overwhelmed they still were able to help. I wanted to give a shout of to Sherry, Cherie, Elizabeth, and I cannot remember my other nurse that worked with Sherry. These ladies have made me feel like I am at home.
