Topic: RE: Blue Cross 6 month diet requirement

I am not in the medical field but am a lap Bander and I think maybe the reason BC/BS does't want you to gain weight is that they may feel you are not going to do the work necessary to lose weight after WLS.  If you are gaining during the 6 month pre-surg. then you will probably not follow diet and instructions after surgery.  NOT my thoughts but pretty sure it is the reason.

Have either of you had surgery yet?

Hello everyone! Has anybody had their surgery performed by Dr. Poplawski? I am scheduled for March 12th and was curious what his pre-op diet consists of.

HI Stacy,  A friend had wls a few months ago and highly recommends Sparrow. Im not quite sure if they take only medicaid as she has medicaid and medicare. It might be worth checking into. She said they have excellent care and support.

When I had my wls, I had to have approval from a psychiatrist for the insurance co.. He asked the questions to find out how serious I was and gave a letter of recommendation to them for the surgery. The other documents you should submit is any Drs. visits for diets, diet information, weight loss help. Or and names of diet programs you have tried.  I hope this information will help you. ~ Lori

Hi  StacyT, I was wondering if you have a Blue Cross HMO or PPO?

If so, where were they on your body and how were they affected by the surgery?

Topic: A good powder for the problem areas...

Hello everyone! I would like to share (in my opinion) the best product I have found for the problem areas on the skin. It is Cornstarch baby powder from Dollar Tree. It is in a white bottle with a blue label in the baby products area. This is the best stuff to work with my pH, and at only 1$ a bottle, a real bargain. I tried their other stuff, Shower and Bath, but this is way better, if you don't mind the light scent of a baby.

Topic: Newbie here....need a world of questions answered

Hi all! I have a ton of questions and would love some people to chat with.

Some of the questions I have are....

Does anyone have a recommendation of a surgeon who takes Medicaid?

What suggestions do you have that I can start doing on my own to prove to the insurance company that I am serious (diet and excercise related)?

I know that a good letter to the insurance company helps the cause, but are there any other documents/records I should gather?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thank a bunch, Stacy
