Good Morning Mary and all of Michigan!

My dear husband got me a Cuisinart coffee maker as a surprise and I just made a cup of coffee with SF vanilla caramel creamer and splenda!  Yum!  I have a box of samples of K-cups so I can try different ones!

QOTD:  I am doing okay on my weight loss journey. I am almost 2 years out so I am in the maintainence phase but struggle daily with making the right choices.  I did pretty good over the holidays, but for the first time ate things like cookies and candy that were not sugar free or made with splenda.  As I've posted before, I'm also struggling with my addiction to carbs (pretzels and crackers).  I eat way too many of these!  I have maintained my loss of 160 lbs, EXCEPT for I fluctuate up between 5-7 lbs.  That disappoints me and I'd like to get it under control.

My daughter is doing fantastic - had her surgery in May '10 and she is down 105 lbs and 20 away from reaching her personal goal!  I am proud of her.

And of course my boys just had surgery four weeks ago Monday - they are both down 50+ pounds!  I am proud of them also and happy my kids have the opportunity for a healthier life!

Have a great day all!

Hi Joanne,

I stopped taking pain meds the day after I got home from surgery.  I was a little sore, but nothing like what I expected.  The worst pain for me was in the hospital the first day or so after surgery.

I went back to work after three weeks.  I have a desk job and had no problems at all going back to work.  My two boys just had surgery on Dec 13th and both of them are doing very well with getting back into their routine of college and going to classes (just over 3 weeks out).  I think you will be fine!

Good Luck!

Good Morning Michiganders and all who lurk.

Have not seen or heard from many of or Old Time Cyber coffee OH-ers and was just wondering how the heck you all are doing? What is Keeping you from the MI OH board? How is you journey going?

QOTD: All of the above.
I have been plugging along. Everything is cope-a-static here. Just decided to get disciplined and recommit to checking in on OH MI daily. I guess i just disappeared for a while cause I got lazy and started to fall into old habits. But NOW I am back. My journey is stable but I could pump it up and do a whole lot better, so I have been working on it.

Hope you all will join in today and update us, or let us know if we can be there for you.

Have a Great Week end!

I am in between Flint and Lapeer, Im thinking thats kinda far from you Dawnie But maybe we could meet in the middle sometime once the roads get better.

pom I like Dr Kralovich. The insurance company is what takes forever to get through. When I called for my first apt they got me in within the week and after I got my approval in July I was scheduled for surgery in August. BUt insurance took me almost a year to get through. The insurance lady at Hurley right now is not all that helpful and I had to do most of the leg work with the insurance company myself and even had to give her the correct code to bill my insurance with so it would be approved. Make sure you have a list of questions you want to ask the doc at your consultation because you wont seen him very much after that, unless you make a specific apt to ask questions and thats just more copays. I am absolutely thrilled with my sleeve. Are you planning to go to the support groups at hurley? if you are I could go and you could pick my brain there.

I had mine laparscopically.  I went back to work after two weeks.  Worked 8 hours and then went and picked blueberries.  I was fine.  Most of the pain was gone.  I quit taking my pain meds after the first week.  I was just careful about what I ate as I was just starting my soft food phase.  You'll do fine.

Hi! I wanted to welcome you to the forum!  I can't answer your question about the RNY, as I had the Vertical Sleeve, but I just wanted to say Hello!

Hello,
I am scheduled for my Roux-En-Y GBS on January 25th and I am trying to get a sense as to what to expect after the surgery.  How long will I be in pain?  Will I be in pain for awhile?  What is is like after the surgery in those first few weeks.  I go back to work three weeks later and I am wondering what I will be going through when I go back to work.

thanks and I am looking forward to meeting some new friends in this forum.
