Topic: WLS friendly PCP ????
Does anyone know of any WLS friendly PCP's in the Ann Arbor or Southfield area ? Someone who is well versed in labs and what we need on a daily basis ?

Topic: Holiday Weekend Check-in
What are you doing/planning for this weekend?

I work for an auto company, so I have Monday off work.  I am planning to play euchre with a bunch of friends tomorrow night.  I have to make sure I take things I can eat, so I don't eat too many crackers and chips.  Last time I was feeling really loopy for a while an realized it was from carbs and not enough protein.  I ate a protein bar and felt better.  Sunday, we are celebrating my Dad's birthday and my mom is having pizza and salad, so I think I'll just bring a can of tuna or chicken to put on the salad.  Monday, I'm hoping to rest and crochet.  I have a jacket to finish and a baby blanket to get started on.  I hope you all are well and will post as you have time this weekend about how things are going!

Congratulations!  It sounds like you are doing great.  I like your comment about starting to thing you're normal.  I catch myself loading up a plate every once in a while and have to stop and say, now what are you thinking?

Happy Surgiversary Sandi!!!!  You've come a long way baby!!!!  Evan after 4 years out and only being 40 years old, I still can't keep up with my grandson, so don't feel bad.... They just have WAY more energy than us I think... LOL...  But we can keep up better than if we had not lost the weight....  Congrats on a great success.

Topic: RE: Open Roux-en-Y recovery?? instead of laproscopic
I've had both I had my Gallbladder removed lap in 2007 that recovery time was good, I took 3 wks off work for that didn't need to I actually felt good after a week and a half.

I just had open DS surgery Dec, 28th 2010 I'm still recovering I'm 17 days out. My incision is 8 inches long I still have the staples in.  It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I've been off pain meds for 7 days.  I'm limited though I can't stand for long  periods of time, when I go grocery shopping I have to use the get around buggy I can't walk  for long periods of time at the most 10 minutes due the weight from my stomach pulling down on my incision. When the staples are out I think this will get better. It's still hard to get a good night sleep. If you have a recliner that is good but not a requirement propping up pillows will do just fine.  I feel the most comfortable when I'm sitting up.I am unable to exercise at this time partly because of the incision and also due to how involved the DS surgery is.

Would I do open all over again?.... Yes  ... It's not that bad nothing you can't handle. I did the open because my surgeon also only does open but he's the best a small price to pay when you're getting the *******so wanted more time off work LOL !

Would I prefer lap ? .... Yes
