Topic: Still Deciding
Hello there!! I'm excited to be here. My husband's company recently changed the insurance they offer, and I found out that weight loss surgery is a covered benefit. Yay me! On January 4 I went in for the information seminar at the University of Michigan. My plan was to have the band. Now, I know that is not the surgery I will have. I am leaning toward the sleeve, but have not yet ruled out bypass. I go back on March 3 for my med eval and then on March 18 for my psych eval. I am so excited!

I am packing some socks, underwear, slippers, my kindle, my cell, my laptop, chapstick, my personals (comb, brush, toothbrush) and that's all I've got so far.
Very nervous now about tomorrow!!! But so excited!!!

Well congrat's on getting a surgery date! I know that's very exciting to have that date to look forward to.
I had the sleeve 9 months ago (April 16, 2010). I have went from 354 lbs to 225 lbs so far...minus 129 lbs total. I'm still losing, and hope to get under 200 by this April.
My advice would be to just be prepared to follow all of your surgeon's instructions, and keep a positive attitude. Take it day by day, and don't get stressed if you stop losing weight a few weeks after surgery. It's very common, and you will start losing again!

Topic: RE: when do they test for Nicotine?
I quit after 20 years using Chantix and it was so much less painful than using nicotine replacements.
Topic: surgery date
I got my surgery date Feb. 15th!!! Dr. Farhan is my doc and I am having the sleeve. I am super excited but nervous at the same time. I start my pre-op diet on the 31st.
If anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it.

Topic: RE: I'm normal ~ LOL
Ok I'll do this in order of importance :), since your normal does that little ***** on Wii still say ohhhhh in that condescending way when you get on?? I hate that :) Congrats on the 'normal' status, I never made it there.
As others have said the desire to chew ice is a sign of low iron. Do you take any?, if not start and soon, it's hard to get it back up. My suggestion is a nice chewable w/ C to help it absorb better, and of course not within 3 hours of calcium.
Good luck,
Edie

It is probably different depending on which group of bariatric teams you go to.
I quit smoking a long time prior to going for the journey to surgery so it was not an issue for me.
this might have some answers as to how long nicorette gum or nicoteen stays in the system.
you could try the new electric cigerett to help you quit too!

by the way my center never said anything about being tested for smoking!

Chew in Ice is ok as far as bariatric is concerned but you might need to get your bloods dune and have your vitamin levels checked It seems to me I read somewhere that craving ice was a vitamin deficiency related trait.
Congrats on the NORMAL!!!! Yahoo!
