Tari,

As I recall we need a type of Iron called carbonyl.  I use the Baratric Advantage brand because I know they were made for my new anatomy and won't hurt my tummy.   BTW since you live in the boonies ordering vitamins online might save you time and trouble, you can find BA vit's at Vitalady.com, from what I've seen her prices are very competitive.

Good luck,

Edie

Hi Edie!!!!   You know, I'm not sure what they say on the wii, I turn the sound all the way down!!  LOL  I got frustrated at hearing that "ohhhhh" sound when I got on.  So, instead, I just put on my headphones and turn tv all the way down.  HEHEHEHE
I never thought about chewing ice being a sign of anything.  I had my blood drawn, so I'm waiting to see.  Can I get a chewable iron with vitamin c in it at walmart?  I'm not very vitamin smart.  LOL
Thanks for the advice!!
God Bless,
Tari

Hey, Mary ~ I just had my blood work done, but haven't heard back yet from them.  I think maybe I should call them to see if they got the results and check on my levels.  I never thought of that being a possibility of chewing on ice.  Go figure!!  LOL

Topic: RE: when do they test for Nicotine?
Here is how I did it, Darci:  Eat as many chewable vitamin C through out the day as you can.  Then before going to bed, drink 4 oz. orange juice with cream of tartar in it.  They don't actually test the nictotine....the test a byproduct of nictotine that remains in your liver.  If you google it, you will learn more about it.  If you follow this and stay away from smokes, you should pass the blood test in about 10 days to 2 weeks.  From what I have researched, it depends on how your own body metabolizes and at what rate.   Bottom line, be prepared to have them test for it at any appointment.
Hope this helps, Susan LRNY 11-3-2010

It is the malabsorbtion thing that I am nervous about, too.  That is why I am really thinking the sleeve would be best for me.

Best of luck in your decision! I had the sleeve 9 months ago.  I had went back and forth between the RNY, Sleeve and DS, all of them are covered by our insurance.  I was just too scared of the rerouting and malabsorption issues with the other two, so I ended up going with the sleeve.  I'm very happy with my choice.  Do alot of research and decide which one is right for you.

Thanks!  I am reading the sleeve board a lot.  You're right, there is a LOT of information there.

Lynn,

Congrats on your decision to improve your health.  My recommendation is to try a couple more seminars, go ahead and leave your evaluation and stuff, but gather more facts.  sometimes the first one isn't always the best one for you.  There is a sleeve board  obesityhelp.com/forums/vsg/ on OH that can also help to answer questions and well as a Rny board.  obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/

best of luck!
