OT: Any Eddie Money Fans on the board?
Well I have interviewed about 25 country music stars and two adult contemporary stars so mostly my questions always went in one direction letting a story build.
Who inspired you?
When did you first realize music was your thing?
For Eddie Money, many people may not know he was a cop at first, why that, then the change to music?
What kinds of music do you have in your car right now?
Where does he see himself going in the next year?
What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?
If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be and why???
Those are the typical questions I asked artists, and get them story telling about their career, family, and life.
Most people find that getting to know "inside" the artist means more- in relation to what goes on behind closed doors as close as you can get without it getting TOO personal, is always valued by fans.
Have fun!!!
Take pictures too if you can and keep a scrapbook!!!

thank you very much for the info! I will be getting a chance to take tons of pix for the article as I am getting an all access pass for the concert on the 27th. This will be my first major interview, and it will be mostly on the phone so i am a little wondering about how to keep things up on my end, you know, to record the notes for the use in the article.
cant wait for the end of the month and to see what my next big star would be.
For Richard Marx, I had to fax his personal assitant a copy of the questions I was going to ask him. Then when he called me before the interview, he didn't know where they were so we just flew by the seat of our pants and it went well.
I had to REALLY FOCUS with him, and stay PROFESSIONAL.......being a giddy fan and in love with him and his music for years, it was the pinnacle of my radio career to say the least. For me it was the highlight of my life.
You will learn as you go and write out the questions in advance so you know what to ask, and then just let him go.
If I can be of any other help with 25 years in radio life......let me know.

I spoke to him the weekend before my RNY. We BS'ed about music and saxophones and stuff. He wanted me to come to the concert at the "knob" but I had a Pistons Game and would be flying the blimp otherwise I would have attended. He wished me luck on the surgery and told me I was a gutsy for taking that big of a step. He was pretty cool. The security let me talk to him for so long because I am a Palace employee. It's good to be Blimpboy! He's a real nice guy - a regualr person. I thanked him for all the tunes of his I used in cover bands over the years and that was that.
