Does anyone know...
Hi Theresa,
This isn't anything to do with your question but I was hoping that you could tell me the recipe I noticed you talking about the other day. I believe it had pork n beans and hamburger and I think velveta cheese. I must have missed it when it was posted. I haven't been on the computer much lately since the weather has been so nice. Any ways if you could I would appreciate it if you could either give me the recipe or tell me where I could find it. Thanks a lot!
Your WLS Pal,

Hi Theresa,
It's not complicated, but can be time consuming. It is worth the time to know what you are getting. You will need pen and paper. What I usually do is make columns on the paper. One for each nutrient calories, fats, saturated fat, unsaturated, cholesterol sodium, total carbohydrate, fiber, sugars, protein, then I list the vitamins and minerals.
Across the top of the page I put down each ingredient, say Beans, tomatoes, cheese olives, onions, sour cream etc.(nachos sound good) Then I write down in the appropriate column what goes there. for example, I add a 20 oz can of beans, there are 4 servings per can, and 25 calories per serving. You would multiply 4 by 25 to get the total amount of calories. You have to do this for each nutrient listed on the product. Repeat this for each ingredient. When you have a number for everything that is in your recipe You add them up. Add all of the numbers going across in the calorie column, then the fat column, etc., et****il you have added up all of the column's. When you have done that, you will then have the total's for your entire recipe. Next you need to know how many serving's are in your recipe. Say the serving size is one cup. You would measure out the number of cup's that your recipe makes. Say it makes six cups. You would divide the total number of each ingredient by six to get the calories, fat's , cholesterol, etc. per serving amount. I hope this isn't to confusing. If you need more info, or have any questions feel free to ask me. This is one area I do know a lot about : ). Hope it helps.
God bless you,
