I HAVE MY PSYC APPOINTMENT!!!!!
Hi Judy!
I had my psych eval last Wednesday and I'll admit... I was really nervous, too!!
I met with Dr. Williams in Swartz Creek. He was very nice and easy to talk to... VERY informative and I felt very comfortable. I had to come with a survey filled out... we talked about some of my answers, he asked me questions about the surgery itself, and what to expect after (almost like a quiz). Next, I watched a video he made - which was full of really good information about dealing with people after surgery (their reactions), nutrition, exercise, etc. Finally... I took the personality test. I was there for approximately 3 hours.
I called Dr. Williams' office just a few moments ago to ask a question and Sara (very NICE receptionist) said that my results are in and are being sent to Hurley, with a copy coming to me as well. WOO HOO!!
I am sure you will do just fine!!

Hi Brandee..thanks for the info on the testing!! I sure hope that you passed yours!! I have heard some people don't and they have to have it done over again. I know there are 500 questions on the test I am going to be taking...and that alone makes me nervous...but if it means finding out if I can handle this WLS I am all for it!!!
Good Luck to you!!!
Hugs
Judy
Hi Judy,
I am pretty confident I passed mine... although after calling twice in a 10 minute span with half a million questions, I may have proved otherwise....
I asked Dr. Williams if he ever had anyone fail and he told me that he won't let his patients fail. If there are inconsistancies in the evaluation, he will schedule another appointment and more testing if requred, to work out those issues in order to prepare the patient for surgery. He said he has been working with bariatric patients since 1989 and has only had two (if I remember correctly) that had issues that were off the wall... but those issues were obvious when the patients walked into the waiting room!
If your test is anything like the one I took, just make sure you read the questions thoroughly, but don't read into them too much. The over-analytical voice inside of me wanted to answer the question, and then draft an explaination for my answer, complete with names, dates and examples. If I had done that, I imagine I would still be working on the test. In all honesty... it was not a big deal... you will do just fine... and learn a few things about yourself in the process!!
(((((HUGS))))) to you, too!!
