OT: Husband had emergency surgery
I landed home from the hospital about 2 hours ago. What a day! For the past two weeks my husband has been having this pain. The doctors (urgent care walk in facility) first told him it was a hemrrhoid and gave him some cream (Easter morning). Then he discovered a lump and went back to the doctors (Thursday). This time they said he had an in-grown hair. So he has been sitting in our hot tub on and off for about 5 hours a day. To no avail. Goes back on Saturday as it is not getting better. They give him a shot and tell him to continue on the antibiotics from Thursday. Today I tell him enough is enough. They are going to cut him open and get this hair out or else! It's been going on long enough. Go to the urgent care again (fourth time) and they send him to emergency. Emergency looks at him and says SURGERY! Doctor finally explains to me to the problem. It seems he did not have a hemrrhoid. He did not have an ingrown hair. He had a perianal abscess! Doctor got him into surgery, cut him open, drained the absess, cleaned and then packed the area. After surgery the doctor tells me that the abscess was the size of a baseball and hubby has to be in the hospital for 3-5 days. NOT how I expected my day to go.
I finally got our 2 year old son to bed and can relax for the evening.
