New To Michigan Forum

Hi everyone. I have been in the Lakeland Regional Healthcare weight loss program since 12/9/13. My insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield/MESSA) requires a 6-month program before they will approve for surgery. My last of the 6 month appointments is 7/23/14. I have jumped through most of the required hoops: EKG, Eco, 2 nutrition classes, monthly visits to surgeon/nurse/NUT. The only thing left to do is the last appointment, approval and blood work and hopefully I will get a surgery date.

Glad I found this forum, I am somewhat active in the VSG forum and hope to join in on conversation here.

Hi Dawn, I think we are in about the same place in the surgery process.  We could check back and see how it goes.  My Dr is returning to work in August after a car accident and is going to set my surgery date them I hope.  I believe each Dr has his own set of rules of what you need to do before surgery.  Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Dale. We will probably be having our surgeries around the same time for sure. Sorry to hear about your doctoelr but glad he will be back soon. Yes we should keep in contact. Would be nice to get a group of Michigan people together from this group and maybe do some type of activity or support group together.

Hello and welcome to the board! It's pretty quiet around here, but I still check in every couple of weeks. It sounds like you're close to getting your date! I know all the insurance hoops are tiresome, but it should be worth it in the end. I had my last visit and my surgical consult in June; surgery is 1 week from Monday!
