Can we get this site up and running again
Dale
Representing the Thumb here. Dr. Taylor. My surgery date is June 2. Right now I'm just trying to maintain my bmi so the insurance doesn't require 6mo of documentation. Right now I'm exactly on the line.

Hi Kyle
Wishing you well on your journey. Keep us updated on how it goes for you. I hope you can maintain your bmi, to come so close then have the decision reversed just would not be nice. We all want to be on the losers bench, feeling healthier.
How long did you have to wait for a surgery date ? Every Dr and insurance appear to be so different.
I'm glad you sent a reply. I don't know what to do to keep everyone coming back to the site but I'd like to keep it going with everyone's help.
I've done more reading that writing on OH. I am waiting for my surgery date, can't wait, so I don't feel I have alot to contribute yet well maybe questions.
Keep up the good work, god's speed,
dale
Hey there! This board used to be VERY active about 4-6 years ago, but there was a big upheaval with a lot of stuff on OH and a lot of folks left.
I'm in the Brighton area, but had my surgery in Northern VA. I'll be 6 years out in October. I had the RNY. Now, something Dr's don't tell you, is it is VERY common for RNY'ers to develop Reactive Hypoglycemia, which I did. I didn't have diabetes prior to surgery either. But, I've thought it was horrible this happened to me, but to be honest, it keeps me honest and keeps a lot of sugar and simple carbs out of my body. I've gained 15 lbs from my goal and am working on getting 10 of that back off. Do a Google search on it so you can see what new studies are coming out about it. I also know folks who have the Sleeve who were very successful. If I were to do it again, I'd either get the Sleeve or DS - as you keep your pyloric valve and don't develop issues that RNY'ers do. Now, with DS, not all insurances cover it and not that many Dr's do it, but it is very malabsorptive and has the HIGHEST success rating in KEEPING the weight off. I know several very successful DS'ers who are 7-10 years out. But, along with that, goes a very strict vitamin regimine - for life. Do your research and see which surgery would be best for you. There's a website called WWW.DSFACTS.COM. You may want to read it just for info. You can never know too much!
Good luck with your journey! I get on OH a couple of times a day for other forums, but if folks are going to revive this one, I'll check in here then too.
