Have you decided which surgery your getting?  I'm getting my sleeve Jan 22nd.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I am leaning towards the RNY surgery. Right now I'm still in the beginning stages, but I did find out that my insurance covers it, so that's a bit of a relief. Now it's just a matter of getting all the paperwork done and all the other things that the insurance may require. :)

Did you find out which all surgeries they cover and what you are required to be approved?  If you need to do a supervised diet, it is a good idea to get started on that as they are usually 3-6 months.

If you are still researching about all the possible surgeries, what about the Duodenal Switch? I was scheduled for the RNY, but found the D.S. kept the pylorus intact for digestion. I like the malabsorption for maintaining my goal weight. I made it to goal - 135 lbs in 8 months. I am 18 months out now, very easy to maintain within 3 lbs either side of 120 lbs. I am really happy I switched surgeons and went to Dr.Kemmeter, in Grand Rapids. There's no other surgery I would have, none that work as well as the D.S. for permanent weight loss. My Dr said the sleeve is too new to know its long term success. My insurance would only cover one surgery in a lifetime, that's why I went with the D.S. and its more successful success rate.

I'm from Richland Mi, just north of Kalamazoo. It's been well worth the drive to Grand Rapids for Dr.Kemmeter. Many people come to him from Illinois, and all over Mi. His patients have their own D.S. support group. They are very active  with meetings, and Facebook.
