Health Plus HMO Commercial Members

I was wondering if anyone had gone thru the process with Health plus and had gastric bypass covered by Health Plus?

I have had my psycholical exam, and got approved for consult.  Just wondering if that means chances are good that my surgery will be approved?

 I'm no expert, but it sounds like you will be good to go, provided that nothing shows up in your pre-op testing. 
I have Healthplus too an only just had the psych eval last wednesday, with my follow up being this Wednesday.

Do you know or have you done the 6 month diet yet?  Health plus required me to do that but, I had already did it with pcp before starting the process.  Not sure if they still require it or if just for certain bmis

Hi I had Health Plus and they do everything backwards from the others.
First I had to have the psych eval
Than have the PCP fill out a data collection form to send to them.
I than got to see the sugeon.  After Hurley got everything from my pcp and Health Plus got all their info I had to wait.  Health Plus took the whole time alotted before approving the surgery.

I didn't have to do the 6 month diet for health plus as I have a documented list of weight loss attempts including working with Healthplus health coaches on at least two occassions. I have an apointment set up with my surgeon for September 12th provided my referral comes through in time.

 Jessmom, how did the consult go? Did you get a surgery date?

Consult went wonderful.  I am having Dr. Kralovich do gastric bypass on 9-24-12 at 11:30 am.  Yeah!!!!

He opened a day just for me because I have to be able to fly by December 2nd.  The only issue I had encountered was Insurance specialist contacted Health Plus and they told her that I was approved for lap band.  My PCP did not even request for lap band so when I contacted Health Plus They said that was incorrect and I was approved for gastric bypass.  So If you run into issues email Health Plus and ask for a letter stating that your surgery was approved and they will email you 1.  Good luck to you.  If you have any questions please contact me and I will be glad to help you.

I am having trouble with Health Plus big time.  I keep doing as they
say and am going backward with the new policy.  I was told to request
the MMPI after I got approval for the band out and I did that.  They said
to have PCP submit request for Sleeve after I got the band out.  Now
the people that handle referals won't even forward to HP saying only
one surger per lifetime.  I called the lady 2times that told me to call if
denied and she won't call back.  I'm getting so frustrated and
don't know what to do with them.
