Hello Everyone!

I'm new here and just wanted to say HI and introduce myself! My name is Fran. I'm 34, married and living in Oakland County. I am currently waiting for approval for gastric bypass. My surgeon is Dr. Edelman at Harper Hospital. I am hoping to make friends here. I think it will be helpful to be able to talk to people who are going through the same thing I am. Feel free to add me as a friend!

Hi and welcome to the board.  This board usually isn't all that busy, but if you have questions feel free to ask and someone will do their best to help you out.  Wishing you much luck on getting your approval for your surgery.  I am a little over 5 years out and still doing well...  I try and check this board every day, but occasionally miss a day here and there.  Hope to get to know you as you go through the journey of a lifetime....

HUGS,

I know the feeling... I was too, and I didn't have a ton of support from my family at first, they didn't warm up to the idea until AFTER I had the surgery.  And mine was just before Thanksgiving dinner and I HAD to attend the FAMILY dinner...... So as I was passing around the Turkey, the mashed potato's, the stuffing, the gravy, the cranberry sauce and all the friggin pies, I was sipping on my Chicken broth..... But it actually didn't bother me, because that filled me up and I wasn't really hungry.... Sounds funny, but it is the truth.... It is just amazing... For a long while I would just eat a tablespoon of Peanut butter for lunch and that was it and I was full.... It is definitely a roller coaster and when I go places that have tons of food because it is a Pot Luck thing, I think to myself.... "What was I thinking, I want to dive into everything", but I just take a teaspoon of a few things, then half an hour later I go back for a little more and so on.... It is all good and after 5 years my pouch is still treating me good and keeping me from over eating because I use it as a tool, just like it is supposed to be used.... Follow your doctors and nutritionists instructions and you will do just fine.....

Hugs again,
