No local support group

Here's a link to the McLeren support group meetings in Clarkston.  They are freee.  It didn't say on the website that you have to be a patient there.

I had posted a while back about starting a local support group, but it didn't really go far (that might be what Boxermom was mentioning). Beaumont charges (and requires you be a patient of their WL Center), my WL Doctor's group charges, too. I just can't afford to shell out a hundred bucks a month.

I mean, whatever happened to gettng together and talking about "stuff". I.E.: My shoes don't fit anymore and my socks fall down.

There is a Coffee ******y in Royal Oak if anyone is interested in getting together maybe once a month, or every other week. It's right on Woodward near 12 mile, and not very crowded on Sunday mornings.

WoW I'm really surprised at the lack of support available especially with how common WLS has become. I live in the Flint area and I am very thankful for the support groups here I started attending then even before my surgery which really helped me to prepare for and still does for the unknown. Here we have meeting at the Bariatric Clinic once a month and a peer meeting once a month which is awesome and they are open to anyone!

hi, pre op here and yes , I agree, there aren't many support groups around. There is one in Brooklyn mich. not too far from me in the Irish hills, and one in livonia mi.at st.marys mercy. sue

When is the one in Brooklyn?  I am in the adrian area and don't know of any around here yet.  i am pre-op and was expecting to have to go to Ypsi to the place where I am having surgery for my support group.

 I would love to find a support group in the St. Clair County area. My surgeon is a 3 hour drive away.
