No local support group

I'm in White Lake (Commerce, Milford, Walled Lake area). No groups out by me. Neither Henry Ford in West Bloomfield or Huron Valley in Commerce have any support groups. I've NEVER had support except OH.

You would think they'd be everywhere.

Same thing here.  I'm currently in the Ann Arbor area.  Although there are some local support groups nearby the only ones I am aware of you had to be a WLS patient at their facility.  I've noticed a lot of facilities do that though.  Maybe they think people will try to get newbies to go see their surgeon instead?  lol

I am so thankful for OH

well, my surgeon is over an hour away from me, so I answered a post about creating a group.  Nothing ever came of it.  So, I just wing it....which can stink sometimes.  But with the proper pre surgery habits, post surgery isn't that hard.  Just the sticktoitness is hard!

I really want to start one here in Ionia County.  I have a place for it.  I just thought I'd wait til the kids were back in school..seems people are all real busy in the summer, and I didn't think that would be the best time to begin one.  But definitely will get it advertised and going here in the beginning of September.  My surgeons support group is an hour away from me also, and it just cost to much in gas to make that drive.

Did you try McClaren health center?  It's in Clarkston, so not to far from White Lake.   I know they have a bariatric program that offers support groups.  I don't know if you have to be their pateint to go to the meetings though.
I went to one of their information sessions last year, but am not having my surgery there, so I don't know that much about them.

I live in Shelby Twp and am looking for a new support group. Seems that
once you have surgery with my doctor they don't have much of a follow up.
I am willing to travel. I know the white lake area slightly. Willing to get
together to compare notes in person if any one is interested.

I know the feeling... I am in Pinckney and have no support either except for here.  My surgeon's office has groups but he is over an hour away from me, and with the cost of gas, I just can't do it....  I wish I could hook up with like 5 or 6 people and meet somewhere.

When I first started my journey we had a small group that met in Ann Arbor/Ypsi, but I don't know whatever happened with that.  It was a great accountability tool.... Wish I still had that....

At least we have OH!!!!!
