Got the call Friday from my surgeon's office and he has agreed to see me about a VSG consultation! I did the LapBand consult with him earlier this month....changed my mind from all the research and now he's going to give me the VSG consult. One step closer.....one step closer!!

How did your seminar go?? Did it help you with your decision?

Did you go to the Beaumont Weight Control Center for your seminar? I'm over around once a week to weigh in, go to support, etc. If you're ever going to be out that way let me know and we can say "hey!"
Don't forget about Club Bariatrix....for $99 (a one time fee) you get all the Nutritionist, Exercise Therapist and support groups for FREE!

The seminar went good.  My 2 oldest daughters came with me for moral support, plus they wanted to learn more about the procedure.  My oldest daughter is pre-med in college, so this is way up her alley anyway.  Dr. Chengelis (the other bariatric surgeon) answered a lot of questions for people afterwards.  My daughter really liked him and wants him to be my surgeon.  I'll have to check his "report card" and look into him.   Dr. Chengelis has been practicing 6 years longer than Dr. Krause.  Have you met with him at all or just Dr. Krause?  I still would like to meet Dr. Krause also I think.

I scheduled my Medical Evaluation for Aug. 9th, my nutirician assessment and exercise consult on August 11th and my psy evaluation on Aug. 18th.  I guess I will get a script for the stress test at my medical evaluation and possibly the sleep study.  Not quite sure what they do or how they do the sleep study, but I guess I'll find out.

Yes, the seminar and all the appointments are at the Beaumont Weight Control Center....saying "hey" would be awesome!  Just let me know!    They made it sound to me that the Club Baratrix was not an option and that I have to pay the $99 at my medical evalaution.  Which is okay, because I would probably do it anyway.   It sounds like a pretty good deal.

Hi Sheryl,
That's great that your daughters liked him. That's always a good sign. I think he was the one who talked at my seminar too. It's been so long...I kind of forgotten. I'm sure his report card is just fine.

I've only looked into Dr. Krause. My friend who works at Beaumont said he was GREAT so I took that as a good sign. He's not as old as Dr. C but I don't think that matters. They are all in the same practice so I think that's a good sign too!

The next Club Bariatrix is August 15th...they go from 6-7. With the first half of the meeting being support and the second half being a speaker. Facilitator is Jackie Odom....she's great. I go to her as my Psychologist. But there is also a "Lifestyle Change Lecture Series" they have. Next one is Aug. 1st and it goes from 6-7 also. So you see...there is always something going on at the BWCC. Ha!

I'm going there tonight to sit in a regular diet support group from 5:30 to 6:30. It's their regular diet plan (shakes, meal, etc) and to me "weight loss is weight loss" so I'm continuing to go to them to stay on track while I await my surgery. To tow the line....hahahahaha! S

Thats awesome that you are still staying involved and going to the weight loss program until your surgery!  That shows great determination...I admire that!

Yesterday I got some potentially bad news....well not necessarily bad news, just a set-back.  Apparently my BC/BS (PPO) does not cover physician assistants, which was whom my initial medical evaluation was going to be through on August 9th.  Apparently she's covered under their normal BC policy not the PPO part.  Which honestly does NOT make any sense to me!  But when I called over to BWCC to reschedule to a medical physician for the medical evaluation, the lady said she would have Karen Duty call me today to see what she could do with my insurance company.  So we'll see I guess.  If BC/BS is going to be such sticklers, the medical physicians are booked up until probably the firs part of September.     But I guess, whatever will be, will be and I have to remember what they say....everything happens for a reason.

That "Lifestyle Change Lecture Series" on August 1st sounds pretty good.  Are you going to that?  Perhaps we could meet up then!

Yes, I'm going August 1st!! And if you're going to be there....I will look for you! August 1st is also my VSG consult. That will be the day of "deciding"!!! I'll have talked to Dr. K about both the LapBand and the VSG. I'm 80% for the VSG....hopefully the consult will send me over to 110%!!

Kevin Sloan the psy who ran last night's Wed support group. He brought it up that we should go. Bariatric or not...it's going to have a lot of good info and people who have lost their weight and kept it off are going to be the speakers. I will Private Email you my work address and we can easily make sure we are going!

Karen Duty will help you....she's very busy so stay on top of her...or call in a day or so if she hasn't called you back! You are absolutely right about "everything happens for a reason". We all want this to happen quickly but we must be patient. The weight has been on for awhile and it can wait a little longer until all the stars come together!!
