Support Group in Royal Oak or Nearby?

I think in this day paying to get together to encourage one another post-operatively is a cruddy thing to do.  However, I can't seem to find a group locally that doesn't cost some obscene amount of money to attend, or find a free group.

Soooo....

Are there others in the vicinity of Royal Oak, Oak Park, Ferndale, Berkley, Clawson who would be interested in forming a small support group?  I found a fantastically safe place to meet.

If you're interested, please reply here, but also send me a private message with your name and an email address.  Let's see if we can get something together.

Toodles!

Pay for a support group? Seriously? My doc has groups in Madison Heights...Dr. Wood, Harper Bariatric, I don't know if you went elsewhere if that matters if you can go or not, but might be worth a call. I work in Troy, so I could be available at times..I'll send ya my info.

Traci,

I see your posts and I think its great you are on this site.  I am a veteran of sorts and don't get on the boards much, but should.  Support is key.  I live near you, I will send you my info.  And if we need help with forming a group supported by OH or just topic ideas, we can probably talk to Pam T. who posts here too.

A small group of us were walking at Oakland Mall for a bit, then we all started working again.  We could do that too....I live near you, I will send you my info.

ttys,
BM

Yeah, my doctor's office is $25.00 per session. Another place was 15-20 per session.  And of course, the insurance company wont cover anything of the sort...sooo...poo on them.

Mary, I sent you a private message.

I recieved a few replies and will be sending out an email to everyone after the holiday.

Toodles!

Hi Traci,

Once you get things set up with your group I know a great plastic/reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Vincent DiNick.  Dr. DiNick attends supports group to provide information on reconstructive surgery.

Hi Traci,
Did you join Club Bariatrix when you first started your journey? It was a one-time $99 fee thru Beaumont and then all your Nutritionist, Exercise Therapist and Support Groups are FREE.

Just wanted to check....I know that those $25 group sessions are expensive...but since I paid the $99 one time fee....it's been great going to the sessions.

I'm just starting this journey and I have my VSG consultation with Dr. Kraus on August 1st. Hooray!
I also had a LapBand consult with him but I've decided that I'm not going to go that way. And RNY...as much as I love it I can't do the malabsorption because of other issues.

Thanks, Sheryl

My surgeon has support group once a month and it cost nothing to belong. Never heard of a support group costing money to join.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.
