Time Off From Work After Surgery?
Hi.
My paid time off runs out a week after my surgery. I live just under 4 miles from my office and can carpool if I"m not allowed to drive.
I have a desk job, is that going to be an issue returning to work? It would be three days, then we're off again for three days because of the Memorial Day weekend.
Any input would be fabulous!
Thanks!

As long as you have a laparoscopic procedure with no complications, you'll probably be fine to return to work after a week. I work from home at a desk job and was back to work at a week and feeling pretty much back to normal after 2 weeks. Just make sure to plan to bring along your protein shakes, liquid foods to work with you:)
Good luck!
Good luck!
I agree with the other poster, as long as you are a lap surgery you should be okay.
Be sure since you have a desk job to get up and walk around your desk a few times every hour.
Take sips, sips while you are working.
When you get home you probably will need to take a nap.
Naps are good. Listen to your body.

I would say see how things go.
I, myself, would not have been able to return to work the first week after surgery and I also have a desk job. I was still taking pain meds at that point and was very fatigued.
Although you might feel fine, your body will still be in the early stages of healing.
Does your employer offer short term disability? I was able to qualify for short term disability benefits and took 4 weeks off after my surgery. By the end of week 2 I was feeling great, but loved that I was able to take some time and focus on my self.
Good luck to you! I hope things go smoothly!
