I haven't posted on the boards for a  while, but  since I will be off work for a  bit  thought I would stop in and  say hello.  I am off work due to  reconstructive surgery I had last week-- breast and tummy tuck.  I must admit I am going  stir crazy "resting" and not  working or  exercising.

long time no see Romeo,

it doesnt matter if you are stir crazy!  please take every moment to rest, so your drains come out sooner.  I have to say, that plastics were the most painful surgery ever indured by me.  and i have had several.  just sit back, listen to music, watch indulgent t.v. shows and read if you do that sort of thing....

post pics when you are feeling up to it :)

Hi Boxermom!

My  surgery was  Wednesday and I have been off all the pain meds since Saturday.  I had a mastectomy  the end of  February so I had the expanders removed and permanent implants put in along with a  tummy tuck.  I think my  bariatric  surgery was  more painful than this has been.  I saw my plastic surgeon Friday and he was surprised at  how well I was doing, I go back this Friday to hopefully have my  drains  removed.

I did overdo it on Saturday,  and I paid for it with swollen legs that looked like  stumps. I have been laying on  the couch catching up on all my tv shows/movies I have taped.and havent been able to catch up on  until now.

Hi Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your sister n law...I hope you are doing good....I have not been on for a while...I have had  real bad case of depression...I was told that I did not give myself time to grieve after my breast cancer.. I had my mastectomies and back to work ..like nothing ever happened....

So with that said  Romeo.....TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU CAN AND RECOVER SLOWLY AND COMPLETELY.

I am now in search of another plastic surgeon as mine has not turned out quite like it should have. And after being told by my plastic surgeon he would fix it as many times as it takes to make me happy, I had second thoughts...Why wouldn't you fix it right the first time....

Hugs to all....

Thank you. I would like the info. My oncologist did indeed suggest I get a second opinion. He was vey unhappy with my reconstruction. I had the implants put in last July and the 1st redo at Thanksgiving. After everything you just want one thing to go right...

My main concer would be if my insurance would cover another doctor.

Thanks, 'Kajun  (Sherrill )

Kajun,

I'm so sorry to hear your having problems.  I can get you some names of plastic guys in the Detroit area if you interested.  To be a bit more personal, did you have saline or silicone?  From what I've seen of  those that had saline, most went to silicone.  They said it looked and lay-ed (?) better.

As far as anyone telling you how fast or slow you took to grieve after your dx, I say pis-haw, until they face it they can write all they want, they don't know ****!

If there is anything I can do to help you through this, I'd be happy to.
