I thought maybe it would help us to be accountable and stick to the protein plan if we wrote down our meals here.  I know I wouldn't want to write Doritos, so I won't eat doritos.  Don't get me wrong, I will be honest.

I will post everyday and ask this question.  If you want to share thats great, or if you would just like to view people's meals, thats great too.

here goes:

breakfast- low carb yogurt with sunflower seeds
snack- nothing
lunch- tilapia w/ stir fry veggies

what i plan to eat the rest of the day:

afternoon snack- string cheese
dinner- pepper steak w/ veggies [no rice]
evening snack- low carb yogurt

this gives me around 100g of protein and 40g of carbs.  I think that is a good ratio.  What do you think?

I definitely had tooooo many carbs, and not enough protein, but I have been holding my weight with the way I have been eating and my blood work comes back fine every year... (just had it drawn again a month ago)....  I don't know how I am doing so well, with the way I eat, but I am.... Today's menu.....

Breakfast ~ Ultra Thin Bagel with Light Garden Veggie cream Cheese

Lunch ~ Can of Spaghetti O's with Meatballs

Snack ~ String cheese

Snack ~ Bugles

Snack ~ Wheat Thins with Light Laughing Cow cheese spread

Dinner ~ Beef Terriyaki Stir Fry

Snack ~  Gotta have a couple glasses of wine, it's been a long day

OH and I just QUIT smoking about 3 weeks ago, so that is why there is so many snacks in there... Normally I don't snack that much!

Tomorrow I will be on a clear liquid diet though, since I have a colonoscopy set for Wednesday (my sister was just recently diagnosed with colon cancer, so even though I just turned 40, I HAVE to have one done)... Not looking forward to tomorrow...

OH and on another note... I eat more carbs than I should because of the big old $$$$ issues... It is much cheaper to buy pasta and get carb rich stuff from the food bank then it is to get high protein stuff... It really sux!!!  But you gotta do what you gotta do.. I jus****ch how much of it I eat and I TRY to get some protein drinks and bars in here and there....

HUGS to ALL,

Shawn,
I know what you mean about the price of protein.  The costliest is the dense meat, like steak and chicken, etc.  You can get yogurt pretty cheap along with cottage cheese and canned tuna.  Some of the string cheeses are costly too so I look for the store brands on sale.

oh, and to amend my menu from earlier:  1 c. grapes with string cheese, but like 3 of them....the grapes helped with my carb cravings.  I've skipped the simple carbs so far today.

good luck on your colonoscopy, smart to be safe.

Breakfast 1/4 cup yougert with some fresh fruit and a half piece of toast with pb

snack-cheese stick

lunch-  chicken stew with quinoa

snack-none

dinner- chicken breast, squash, quinoa salad

I still measure my food but I don't count carbs or calories. Only for the first 3 months did I do that. I would like to make up my meals ahead of time and freeze them like I used to.  I got away from that. It seemed to help me a lot. My taiste buds and pouch have changed again. Somethings I loved I can no longer tolerate.

Have a good day.
