Remember Me??

I had wls in Detriot almost six years ago... moved to Oklahoma four years ago....
Any old timers out there still....

I am doing great. Still sitting in a size 2/4... loving life!! Getting graduate from Rhema Bible Training Center in May.

I have some questions on vitamins for those of us who are over five years out. I'm having some muscle issues when I am active. For example: yesterday I worked in the yard for two hours... and today my leg and arm muscles are not working. I could barely walk to the car and drive the kids to school.

I still aim for 100grams of protein per day and I still drink 100 oz of water/ice tea per day.... other then that I eat 'normal'... not much bread, rice, or potatoes.

Any ideas??

Are you still taking all your vitamins?  I wonder if that is a B12 related issue...

Hey there Stranger!!!!!  I can't help you with your question, but it is great to see you again and hear about how well things are going for you.... Congrats on your upcoming graduation....

Good Luck with the vitamin issue.  I will be curious to see what others say since I am 4-1/2 years out now.

Hey Laurie, I was just going to ask the same thing.  Haven't been on in about 3 years.  Glad to hear everything is going well with you.  I'm still stuck in the 160 lb range and am happy about that.  I am also experiencing muscle cramping sometimes and increased my B12 and that seemed to help.  Glad to see there are still old timers checking in on occasion.

Hi guys!  Funny that alot of us oldtimers popped on here this week, isn't it?  It's been years since I've been on too.  I've gained 60 lbs back, unfortunately, but am going to try to get back to basics.  On the muscle thing Laurie, I am not sure about that...my first thought was not hydrated, but obviously you are if you are drinking that much a day.  How about your potassium levels?  I have had trouble absorbing a few things over the years....my thyroid med....keep a close eye on that, my B-12 plummetted at one point, had shots for a while, and now just staking sublingual and is staying good.  But most recently, started iron infusions....my iron has always been "low" since surgery, but it just continues to run sooooo low, that they finally are doing this....and I feel better already!  I was so tired all the time.  Just one infusion has helped me, I do believe.  But yes, I'd have your bloodwork done again...be sure you check all your wls dr. always wanted checked...  Best of luck!!  Theresa

omg - this truly is old timers week!  I havent been on in several years myself as well...but was referred back to find info regarding a support group so just here checking it out.

Hey there Laurie, John and Teresa...I actually remember you all...that is a miracle in itself. LOL

How is everyone doing?

I am dealing with major vit deficiencies myself.  Some/most of it is from my issues taking pills so therefore I dont take them.  The problems started after I had a bowel obstruction when I was 2+ years out so it isnt surgery related, but is probably a contributing factor due to the malabsorption aspect.  Trying the hardest to find alternate ways to get my nutrition in me though.  The adventure continues....

My profile is sooo messed up...guess gonna have to make a few reappearances to get it fixed.  That may be a good thing. ;)

Hi Laurie,

I do remember you, and Jon and Theresa...I was just reading an email reminding me that my anniversary was last week 8/4...it's been 7 years...unbelievable...life has changed so much but yet somethings never change.

I'm very lucky in the fact that I've kept all of the weight I've lost off...I don't have alot of health issues, mainly iron and B12.  The tool still works, if I eat to fast or take to much I get sick, I guess that's a good thing.  I had to have a scope done last year because I was getting sick all the time, but its better now.

Let's see what else..oh yeah, I got married last year at the ripe old age of 53...lol..he is a great guy.

It's so good to see all of your smiling faces on here...I still consider myself a part of the Mich group never quite clicked with anyone in New Mexico.

I hope everyone is doing great.
